It depends actually a lot on different aspects. Programmers for example need much more focus time so that nobody really disturbs them and they can concentrate alone. We're 90% programmers and remote-first since 2014. It takes time to get used to being remote and a lot of practices must be taken into action (live voice rooms in Discord, daily standups, weekly sprint meetings, Friday evening presentations and hanging around, regular meetups in cool places, etc).

Our admin workers, analysts, UX experts, marketing/sales team, junior developers and many project managers work mostly from one of our offices and remote is surely not suitable for them for example.

Another aspect is that different people want different office/remote balances. Some prefer to visit the office sometimes and code on their own alone in their small private office at most times. Or in the separate office corner with headphones on so nobody really disturbs them. Some like to be in the middle of people and socialise a lot and be alone sometimes. Some are extroverts, and some are introverts. Everybody must work out the ideal balance and how they are most productive.,

Points 4 and 5 are 100% true in the article. If you're new or a beginner you should surely be more on-site and do less remote. Also, the work-life balance is super important but for that, you do not be in the office with others. You need just a separate space where you work and where is your free life. Your kids, family members, flatmates whoever you live with should remain separate from the place you work for sure. It could be a co-working space, a private small office where you work alone, an office with co-workers, a garden house, a garage, or a quiet café corner, doesn't matter.
