89% of disabled people in the UK think that politicians do not engage with them well or at all. I designed a guide to help MP’s communicate accessibly with their constituents. Using Scope’s recently refreshed brand I created a clear and engaging design style for this guide and future long-form documents.

Yesterday I attended my masters graduation ceremony. Anyone who knows me will know my time at Goldsmiths was very turbulent. The experience was not what I expected, and yet I am so proud of what I managed to achieve in spite of disruptions. Reflecting back on the two years since I graduated from my bachelor’s degree, I realise how much I have grown since moving to London to complete my MA in Brands, Communication and Culture. Yes, I learned from the texts I read and the research I conducted, but even more so, I learned from the experience of being thrust into a new city, meeting new people and being confronted by social issues I’d barely begun to understand. The friends I made showed me a level of emotional intelligence and social awareness that inspired and delighted me. I gained a new sense of independence and confidence by finding my way in a new environment. Studying part time, I also worked jobs which taught me which characteristics I valued in organisations. My current job at Scope, which I’ve now been at for over a year, has taught me so much about accessibility. I am able to better understand and support friends, colleagues and the people I meet day to day.
I’m really proud to reach this milestone and recognise that I am a better person now than I was two years ago. Althought it was tough, I’m so grateful I took this path and gained all the opportunities, friends and skills that came along the way.
I understand I’m extremely privelleged to have had this experience. As always, I am thankful for the support of my family, friends, colleagues and academic staff.

Some new visuals of the print communications I designed for Scope's 2023 Volunteer Awards, achieving a 200% increase in nominations compared to the previous year. I absolutely loved bringing this project together from concept to watching the final awards ceremony!

Coproduction with volunteers inspired the tea and biscuits theme which represents daily moments of joy shared between volunteers at work and the treats which they would share at the celebrations held in Scope shops on the day of the awards. I developed a photographic concept, hand decorating biscuits in Scope’s brand colours to represent the hands-on work of volunteers.

After directing and editing the photography of the biscuits, I designed the print communications for the awards, including strut cards to be displayed in Scope shops and letters and certificates.

The unique and playful visual style appealed to volunteers and members of the public, resulting in an over 200% increase in nominations compared to the previous year.

This week, I was delighted to find out that my Masters dissertation was awarded a First with 75 marks. I'm over the moon to have completed my Masters and to know that my dissertation will help to contribute high quality and necessary research to help better understand ethical design.

I have published my dissertation online on Research Gate and Academia (links will be in the ‘academia’ highlight on my page) and I would be very happy to hear any feedback from my friends and colleagues.

It’s also been suggested that I should reformat my dissertation into articles to be published in journals. If anyone has any tips about going about this, or would maybe like to be my editor, let me know!

Once again, many thanks to the research participants (you know who you are 😊). Research also included online material from , , .future.collective , , , , , , and . These are all organisations I admire and I would love to hear their take on my discussion.

I produced these animated social media adverts for Scope’s recent legacy campaign. I used a glow effect to draw attention to the speech marks and quotations of the disabled people who would be supported by the money left in gifts in wills.

I'm happy to have been a part of the success of Scope's recent legacy campaign which has already exceeded it's initial targets for enquiries for Gifts in Wills guides.

The Legacy team at Scope developed a new proposition for their campaign, focussing on disabled people’s hopes for a fairer future.

A concept was developed using eyes-to-camera photography and bold typography to represent disabled people’s ambitions for the future.

We produced the final artwork for the campaign posters which were displayed in Scope shops. The poster designs championed the real people behind the quotations whose wishes could be achieved with the help of gifts in wills.

I also produced animated social media adverts for the campaign, using a glow effect to draw attention to the speech marks and quotations. Videos on next post.

It's been nice to have the time lately to reflect on some successful and fun projects I've worked on in the last 18 months. I loved working on these illustrated guides for St John & St Elizabeth Hospital and it felt really important to be able to give patients an easy to follow and undaunting way to understand their condition.

Acknowledgements:

With thanks to the research participants who made this study possible.
To tutors JM LM and RM who encouraged me to continue through two years of turbulent study at Goldsmiths.
To my family for their continued support throughout my academic career, without whom I would not have been able to complete this masters programme.
To my friends and colleagues from the University of Lincoln, who inspired me to continue my studies. Particularly to CD, whose memory reminds me to always keep going.
To my wonderful friends, who have kept me balanced, reminded me that the end is in sight and that “Life begins after your masters” – here’s to catching up on some living.
To myself, you made it. Let’s call it a day, at least for now.

I developed the concept for a range of merchandise to be sold by in order to raise awareness of the habitat destruction exposing these highly adapted animals to danger.

This range included the original artists lino prints, produced on recycled stock to compliment the organic texture of the printing technique and the natural imagery.

And here it is… finally dedicating some space on my feed to one of my favourite ever projects and one of the last things I did 💙✨

As habitats dwindle, species become exposed and endangered. The Unhidden range by WWF uses lino print artwork to reveal the threat habitat loss poses to three diverse species: The Snow Leopard, Sea Turtle and Nightjar. The artworks showcase camouflage used by these animals to survive in their natural environments.

I took the opportunity to use one of my favourite hands-on print methods, lino-cut to create highly detailed, vibrant prints.
