Returning to work this morning, many people will open infected emails which will begin encrypting their data. we advise that before opening ANY emails that you disconnect your computers and servers from the internet and backup all your important data. Then remove your back drive and reconnect to the internet. Once back on, the next thing to do is fully update your computer with ALL of the security updates. ONLY then should you attempt to view your emails. When you do, be extra cautious about suspicious emails. Turn off the preview pane and if it has an attachment delete it. If it is from someone you know but are not expecting an attachment with the email, call them and check.
If you have any questions, please call us and we'll be able to assist you further.

Please be advised that there is a VERY nasty virus doing the rounds which encrypts both local files and any files on mapped drives. Once they’re encrypted, they cannot be decrypted without paying the attackers money. We advise everyone to be extra vigilant and not to open any suspicious emails. Antivirus software isn’t necessarily going to stop it. The virus spreads through infected sites and email. Please make sure that you make backups of any important files, pictures etc. and once you have, remove the medium that you have backed up on from the computer. We do not mean to sound alarmist, but unfortunately, should you get this virus, there would be nothing that can be done to recover your files. If you need more information or help, please do not hesitate to call us.
