One of our early clients in the waiting list told us: "I didn't realise how much I needed to feel like someone had thought about this for me."

That's it, really. That's the whole idea behind matching, rather than just handing someone a list of names and wishing them luck.

If that's the kind of thing you've been looking for, we're glad you found us. πŸ’›

A few things worth knowing before you walk into the delivery room. Save this one. πŸ’›

5 RIGHTS YOU HAVE IN THE BIRTH ROOM

1. You can and should ask as many questions as needed, to get clarity over what is going on and every procedure.
2. You can say no. Remember: your informed consent is required, unless it's an emergency.
3. You can change your mind, even about your birth plan. Just make sure every decision you take is informed and you feel comfortable about it, never forced.
4. You can ask for more time to think about a decision or talk through it with someone you trust.
5. Do not ever think "I am being difficult". It is your body, your experience, and it is fundamental that you feel confident and in power.

An remember: these apply to whatever kind of birth you're having. 🌼

Meet Evanjelene lumamother. She joins Bound Mama as one of our Founding Doulas. 🌻

Hi, I'm Evanjelene, a birth and postnatal doula, as well as a maternity nurse and a master's graduate in child's studies, and I am dedicated to supporting families with compassionate, evidence-based care. I believe every parent deserves to feel informed, respected, and confident throughout pregnancy, birth, and the early days of parenthood.

My role is to provide practical support, emotional reassurance, and plenty of information, helping you navigate your journey in a way that feels right for you. Whether you're planning a home birth, hospital birth, caesarean, or VBAC, I'm here to advocate for your choices, nurture your confidence, and create a calm, supportive presence every step of the way.

I also have a passion for infant feeding, newborn care, and helping parents adjust to life with a new baby; my care is routed in your culture and lifestyle. I aim to ensure that as parents, you feel seen, heard, and supported as you welcome your little one into the world on what may seem like a rollercoaster ride!

Meet Emma . She joins Bound Mama as one of our Founding Doulas. 🌷

Hi, I'm Emma, a birth and postnatal Doula based in SW London and working with families around London and Surrey.

I'm a mum to three wonderfully bonkers children, and it was my own births that sparked my passion for supporting other families. I know first hand how empowering birth can be when you feel informed, listened to and genuinely supported.

Since becoming a doula, I've had the privilege of supporting families through all kinds of births, from straightforward physiological births to inductions, planned caesareans and VBACs. Every birth is different, and that's one of the things I love most about this work. I'm still learning with every client I support, and I genuinely believe there's always more to discover.

My approach is calm, honest and evidence based. I'll never tell you what you should do, but I'll make sure you understand your options so you can make the decisions that are right for you and your family. Birth isn't about having the "perfect" experience. It's about feeling informed, respected and supported, whatever path it takes.

I'm really looking forward to being part of the Bound community and meeting even more wonderful families along the way.

Nobody really prepares you for the part where you have to build your birth support team from scratch.

Finding a midwife is straightforward, the NHS handles it. Finding a doula, a postnatal class, the right pelvic floor physio: that part is on you, usually squeezed in between work and everything else pregnancy is already asking of you.

If you're at this stage, one thing really helps: start looking earlier than feels necessary, around 28 to 30 weeks if you can. Good doulas and good classes get booked up, and a bit of lead time means more calm and less worry.

You don't have to figure all of it out alone, or all at once. πŸ’›

The fourth trimester. The 12 weeks after birth that nobody really talks about until you are in the middle of them.

Here are five things worth knowing before you get there:

1️⃣ Your body is recovering from something enormous. Whether you gave birth vaginally or by caesarean, your body needs weeks and months. Rest is not laziness. It is the work.

2️⃣ The emotional landscape is unpredictable. Baby blues in the first week are common and usually pass. But if the weight does not lift after two weeks, or if it gets heavier, please tell someone. Your partner, your midwife, your GP, a trusted person. You are not meant to carry it quietly and alone.

3️⃣ Feeding takes time to establish. However you choose to feed your baby, the first few weeks are a learning curve for both of you. It can feel like it will never click, and then suddenly it does. Support from someone who knows makes that stretch shorter.

4️⃣ Asking for help is not a sign that you are not coping. It is a sign that you understand how this works. No one does this well alone.

5️⃣ The people around you will need guidance too. Your partner, your family, your friends do not know what you need right now. It is okay to tell them. And sometimes telling them what you need includes setting up boundaries for yourself and your baby.

The fourth trimester does not get as much preparation as birth does. Let's change that.
