Anyone who’s been diagnosed with a chronic illness (or has cared for someone who has) understands the emotional toll it can take. Every patient’s experience is unique, but many face emotions like uncertainty, fear, anxiety, loneliness, anger and sadness.
Newly diagnosed patients often search for more information, and while there's no shortage of clinical resources about the condition itself, the most pressing questions patients have often go unanswered:
❓ What will life be like living with this condition?
❓ Can I still do the things I love?
❓ What does treatment feel like?
❓ Is my life going to change for the worse?
The empathy, understanding and perhaps most importantly the lived experiences of other patients can be invaluable in answering these questions. Yet, in many ways, we’ve neglected the importance of this human aspect of healthcare.
Integrating patient-to-patient peer support alongside clinical care can provide both the medical and emotional support patients need to navigate their journey.
Imagine a world where a patient receives a diagnosis and their clinician not only provides expert medical care but also connects them to a safe, controlled environment where they can talk to others who have truly “been there”.
We believe that’s a dream worth making a reality!
