πŸ‡«πŸ‡― CALLING ALL OUR FIJIAN FAMILY & FRIENDS EVERYWHERE πŸ‡«πŸ‡―

πŸ™Œ Help Honour Our Brave Boat Captain πŸ™Œ

We witnessed true Fijian spirit in action – when lives were at risk, this captain didn't hesitate. He put everyone else first, lost his boat in the effort, then swam all the way back to the island just to raise the alarm and get help organised. That is courage, that is service, that is who we are.

Now it's our turn to stand by him.

🎯 Target: Β£1,600 | So far: Β£174 raised – we're only at 11%!

This boat is not just equipment – it is how he provides for his family and serves his community. We want to help replace it as our way of saying vinaka vakalevu for his bravery.

πŸ’ Every gift counts:

- We invite you to give whatever you can, up to Β£5 if you are able
- Β£2 from ten people makes Β£20 – together we build this up
- If you cannot donate right now, please share this post far and wide – that helps just as much!

Let us show this humble hero he is seen, valued and supported by us all across Fiji, the UK and the whole world. Let's get him back on the water where he belongs.

Vinaka vakalevu for your kindness and heart ❀️

πŸ•ŠοΈ Lai & Kaci: The Reunion That Was Meant To Be

Written by Wilfred 🀍

This journey was always about one thing above all: to be by her big sister Kaci’s side. After thirty years away, Lai travelled home to Cicia, Lau β€” to Mabula β€” for this very moment, sent with all my love, my blessing, and everything I could give to make this possible.

Kaci’s story is one of the strongest courage anyone could ever know. Years ago she survived a terrible car accident: weeks in a coma, broken bones, injury to her head β€” and through every dark hour she fought her way back to life. Now she carries another heavy cross: diabetes has taken its toll, and she has faced amputation, with health that grows more fragile each day. It was Kaci’s own wish to go back to her island home, to live simply, eat fresh from the land and sea, and rest surrounded by family, rather than anywhere else. This is her final journey home too.

When Lai first walked in to see her, our hearts all held their breath. Kaci looked at her β€” but at first she did not recognise her little sister. Between her eyesight and the lasting effects of that head injury, she called Lai by another sister’s name. She truly could not believe that Lai would leave her life in London, travel all this way across the world, just to come and sit with her. But once she knew, once it settled in her heart β€” there was no greater joy. They are together now, and Lai’s heart is full beyond words.

Kaci has her own home here in the village with her husband, her children and grandchildren β€” she is not in the old family house where they grew up, but right where she belongs, among her own people. Lai is only able to stay for one precious week; this emergency journey came so suddenly I could not travel with her, nor bring our children β€” work and commitments here held me back, and believe me when I say I carry a weight of sadness that I am not standing there beside her. But I gave my full approval, I covered every flight and every cost, because this was the most important thing she could ever do. If this is the last time they meet in this life, I would never have let her miss it. We will come back together one day soon β€” all of us β€” to walk this land properly with Lai, for that long-awaited second homecoming.

"Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, β€˜Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."
β€” Matthew 17:20

Faith that moves mountains, faith that crosses oceans, faith that makes a ten thousand mile journey nothing at all when love calls.

To every single relative who met Lai, looked after her, helped bring supplies, welcomed her, walked with her these days β€” from the Lau and Ba community to everyone who has shown kindness: thank you. Thank you from the depths of my heart. To her dear brother Dr Jone Lako , sister Dr Jima Lako with niece Dr Filomena and family : please accept my sincere apology I could not be there myself, and my deepest gratitude for receiving our Lai with such open arms, and for your loving care of your sister Kaci there in Mabula, Cicia, Lau.

This week is for them: the little sister who came all the way home, and the big sister who waited for her. Nothing else matters right now.

πŸ‡«πŸ‡― Lai Has Come Home To Mabula, Cicia, Lau πŸ™πŸΎ

The journey continues and our beautiful wife has touched down safely! The flight was blessed with clear skies all the way β€” even though there were only four passengers on board and those propellers hummed quite loudly at times πŸ›©οΈπŸ’¨ She felt a little nervous at first, but Lai held strong all the way through, her heart already set on coming home after more than 30 long years.

As soon as she stepped onto the land that raised her, she presented her sevusevu to the chief ( Tui Mabula) β€” our beloved tradition of welcome and respect, carrying our prayers and gratitude wrapped with the whale’s tooth πŸͺ¬ And what a wonderful reception! The village of Mabula welcomed her with such open, humble hearts. Even after all this time, they recognised her face straight away β€” the little girl who ran through these paths, learned her first lessons at the village school, before leaving for high school and then further studies at Lautoka Teachers College, never imagining it would be three decades before she walked these roads again.

She has been blessed fully by the Vanua of Mabula, Cicia and the whole Lau Group β€” embraced by the very land that shaped her into the wonderful woman she is today.

From me, Wilfred, and our three sons: please accept my sincere apology that I could not stand right beside her at this special moment due to work commitments here in Scotland. It weighs heavy on my heart not to be holding her hand as she takes every step down memory lane. I have given all I can to make this journey possible β€” flights and most expenses provided by me β€” but nothing compares to being there together. I am so sorry I cannot be there in person, yet my spirit is walking every step with her always ❀️

We thank you endlessly, the Chiefs, elders, families and every single soul of Mabula Village, Cicia Island and the Lau Group, for receiving her so warmly on my behalf. Thank you for looking after the little girl you all knew, who is now returning home carrying love all the way from Nailaga, Ba. May God bless you all abundantly for your kindness and your way of life that holds people close no matter how many years pass πŸ•ŠοΈ

Welcome home, my love. We are so proud of you.
