We had a hugely interesting day spent in a seminar (with speakers from Microsoft amongst others) on how to make businesses more environmentally friendly and sustainable in the long term.

Given the level of urgency with which it is being discussed at COP 27, we’ll be doing everything in our power to make our agency a carbon neutral (or even carbon negative) company using the best science we can get our hands on over the coming years.

We were utterly delighted to receive this awesome technical top from those kind folks at Gill with the logo we made for this team that’ll be rowing across the Atlantic next month!

Always brings a little tear to our eyes when we see our work materialised in reality for life-changing causes.

❤️ P O P P I E D ❤️

We were delighted to offer a free ‘poppying’ service to veteran-owned enterprises in the run up to remembrance Sunday, this year - and were ecstatic to receive requests from those pictured to show their support for this day.

We’re a social bunch at the Haus and love innovative and disruptive forms of philanthropy, so we’re already thinking of what other causes we could help businesses show their support to in the future - we’d love to hear what you’d like to see?

We made this motion graphic artwork to mark remembrance day, a day of solemn contemplation, to commemorate those who never made it back from conflict.

We made it to focus on the horizon, but also on the present day, for how we feel it’s best observed - looking forward but also recognising what’s in front of you.

Using a combination of artwork and photography depicting the Commando memorial at Spean Bridge, Scotland, due to its part in our heritage, we think of those all over the world affected by conflicts - including those blighted by it today.

As a veteran-owned organisation, this part of the year always has particularly significance to us in remembering those that didn’t make it back.

Therefore we would be delighted to add a poppy image (similar to our logo below) for any veteran-owned business regardless of their size, for free over the coming week.

If this is you or someone you know, please ask them to send their logo (ideally an .ai or .svg file) to us at [email protected] and one of the team will get it back to you asap with the icon added somewhere fitting.

❄️ I N S P I R E D ❄️

We were delighted to produce this logo for a team of inspiring Doctors skiing to the South Pole in the name of research of the human body, on the Inspire22 expedition.

The mixed team of civilian and military Doctors from all three services, will be looking at the metabolic cost of sustained polar travel as they ski from the edge of the Antarctic land mass to the South Pole later this year!

This incredible endeavour will also explore their understanding of austere environments to inform potential ‘translational’ implications for patients.

We’ll be following this utterly incredible expedition closely and look forward to their safe return armed with this important knowledge and experience of cold weather endeavour.

We had a great weekend exploring the beautiful woodland trails in Estonia’s capital city, Tallinn that we’re already keen to get back out and photograph more of the stunning nature!

🌇 S M A R T C I T I E S 🌇

Whilst not taken forward for further development, we loved the way this branding concept for a smart cities business came out that we’ve decided to share it.

Developing personalities for abstract industries, such as data, analytics, tech, and the sciences, is a challenging process; it really pushes us to really work outside our comfort zone and experiment with new ideas.

This concept for ‘Candamar’ (which is not a real company) leverages the semiotic signs tied to the futuristic material Graphene, a carbon allotrope that can conduct electricity (thanks to its delocalised electrons) and is characterised by a hexagonal honeycomb lattice structure.

We love building brand personalities that are innovating to build the world better, so if this is you - get in touch to see how we can collaborate!

⚡️ B R E A T H I N G R O O M ⚡️

This is something that we get asked often, so we thought we’d explain.

‘Negative space’ (aka white space) is the area surrounding and inside the subject (i.e., the logomark) where there is no detail - but it’s highly important:

It’s a tool that us designers use to give context to an image (i.e., the circuit board effect inside the shield) to communicate information whilst leaving the logo uncluttered and easy to decode.

We’ve all seen that chaotic logo that tries to communicate far too much and ends up looking like a car crash of lines, fonts and colours - this is how we mitigate that problem.

A logo shouldn’t be a burden on your brain to decipher, it should quickly communicate your values without making the viewer work too hard - otherwise they’ll ignore it and look at something else.

It’s not everyday you’re at Tallinn’s TV tower and a BASE jumper casually throws a backflip exit off it!

Glad we were there with the cameras when he did though of course.
