PSA: Rejection is just redirection.

If you didn’t get the job, it wasn’t the right fit for you, and that’s okay.

Keep applying, keep learning, and trust that the right role is waiting for you to walk into it. ✨

THE UNSPOKEN RULES OF ONLINE MEETINGS:

- You must say "Can everyone see my screen?" even if you know they can. If you do not do this, the space-time continuum will implode.

- No matter the topic or seriousness of the meeting, all pets are legally allowed to interrupt at any time, for as long as they wish.

- If you are still forgetting to unmute yourself in the year 2026, regardless of the reason, EVERYONE thinks you are a massive silly billy. They may not be saying it out loud, but they are thinking it.

What did we miss?

When you're updating your LinkedIn profile, it can sometimes feel like your entire career history is just a string of "well, that didn’t work out". 🤷

But guess what? It’s all part of the journey. Every “oops” and "never again" is just a stepping stone to your next big win.

You've got this. Keep going 💪

EMAIL SUBJECT LINES YOU SHOULD NEVER USE (UNLESS YOU WANT EVERYONE TO TALK ABOUT YOU BEHIND YOUR BACK) 👀

- "Re: Re: Following up": I'm exhausted just from reading this, I will absolutely be giving up before I get to the actual body of the email

- "[First Name]?": brings an invasive, spammy energy to the function that we don't appreciate

- "Quick favour": let's drop the charade, we both know this favour will not be quick

- "Touching base": irritating, unsettling and deeply vague

Searches on our platform for 'flexibility' are up 47% in the past 12 months... AND searches for 'in-house training' are up 127% in the past 6 months.

Searches for 'alternative working patterns' are up 54% in the past 12 months... AND searches for 'learning and development budget' are up 115% in the past 6 months.

Searches for 'mental health days' are up 45% in the past 6 months... AND searches for 'further education support' are up 107% over the same time period.

What does all of this mean?

Simple. It means that it's time to park the tired notion that job-hunters looking for flexibility don't want to work hard.

Flexa's data shows us that simply isn't true.

People want to work, to develop themselves, to upskill, and to thrive in their career: they just don't want to burn themselves out in the process.

The companies embracing genuine flexibility AND fostering a culture of learning and progression are the ones who are standing out.

Where can you find them? We think you probably already know... but you can head to the 'About' section of our page if you're not sure. 💜

YET MORE JOB INTERVIEW RED FLAGS YOU SHOULD *NEVER* IGNORE 👀 🚩

- "You'll be wearing many hats"
↳ I enjoyed The Devil Wears Prada 2 as much as the next man, Geoff, but how many hats? HOW MANY HATS???

- "We've had high turnover in this role"
↳ This either means a problem with several unrelated candidates, OR a problem with the company itself. We'll let you decide which seems more likely

- "Nice to meet you, [INSERT WRONG NAME HERE]"
↳ Dunno about you, but I reckon basic respect and a bare minimum 5 minutes spent looking over your CV should be non-negotiables when it comes to picking your next company — so sue me

- "You'll need to let us know by tomorrow"
↳ If you ever feel like you're being pressured into making a quick decision, take a pause. At worst this could be a sign of a scam, and even if it isn't, it's not the attitude you'd like to see from a future employer!

RE: Punctuation in emails!

Hi all!

We'd like to wish a very good morning to everyone EXCEPT the people who think you shouldn't use exclamation marks in work emails!

If you really have to circle back and touch base on something deeply boring before 10am, why not try and add a bit of pizzazz!

Each to their own, but when it comes to exclamation marks, we at Flexa personally can't get enough of them!

We welcome your exclamatory opinions with open arms!

Thanks!
Team Flexa 💜

PS: Our only exception is when the exclamation mark is being used to try and disguise a deep undercurrent of passive-aggression! This is a very transparent move and is deeply irritating!

OFFICE: Getting into flow state while the office hums around you 💻

WFH: Getting into flow state while your dog watches your every move 🐶

BOTH: Trying not to make eye contact so you don't lose your train of thought 💭
