This Friday (30th) Enderby Band and Enderby Youth band will join forces to present an evening of summer music, including favourites from the Last Night of the Proms. The concert starts at 7:30pm at Enderby Parish Church, LE19 4AR. Tickets are £8 and £6 and will be available on the door.
On Sunday 25th June the Giocoso Quartet plays Haydn and Debussy in the wonderful acoustic setting of Peckleton Church. The programme comprises Haydn’s last completed quartet, Opus. 77 No. 2 in F major, and the only quartet written by Debussy. The Haydn work has been described as ‘full of invention, fire, good taste, and new effects’ while Debussy ‘expanded the sound of the string quartet with a variety of novel textures and tonal effects ranging from delicate subtlety to ravishing grandeur’ (perhaps ‘lush’ might sum it up). The concert starts at 4pm. Tea and cakes will be served from 3.30pm. Tickets: £9 all adults, free for Under 18s. Tickets available on the door or call 07768 515401 or email [email protected]. Sign up to our mail list at http://www.mailgen.co.uk/arts Concert leaflet and forthcoming events available athttp://www.mailgen.co.uk/arts/giocoso-web.pdf Members of the Giocoso Quartet started their careers as orchestral musicians but came together because they all share a great love for chamber music. David Hiscox and Louise Carter (1st and 2nd violinists) first met playing for the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Pam Hiscox (viola) played for the Liverpool Philharmonic and Anthony Calverley (cello) played for the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
