Hooper Hoops commissioned the creation of this Clock/Timer for use in her classes.
The clock has 8 different brightness levels and the timer can be set to the length of your choice, and will count down. The clock and timer display in a lovely colour changing rainbow effect.

The horns were created as a simple costume addition for the theme of mythical creatures for a performance at Barefoot Festival various styles and colours printed so there was an interesting variety for performers to choose from. Once printed they were all sprayed in glitter and attached to headbands.

For this years Barefoot Festival we were given the fun commission of making some LED Jellyfish Umbrellas to be used as pretty walk about items during the festival.
They were a fun yet simple thing to make and something we plan on making more of soon.

Following the success of Lauren Red's Mk.2 Glow Heels, Emily of Emily's Pole Fitness in Swindon ordered her own pair.
The Mk.3 Glow Heels have 51 LED's in each shoe, and are encased in frosted diamante Pleaser heels, making the LED's visible from all angles, and creating a lovely glow and sparkle.
They are rechargeable and have 16 pre-programmed patterns and can also be reprogrammed.

These fabulous photos from Daniel Bridge were taken during an impromptu glow show put on by the Combust Collective on the Saturday night of Barefoot Festival 2017 due to the fire show being rained off.
Within these images you can see many of the Labs creations being brought to life by ourselves and our friends.

Included are the Barefoot letters, the Blinken Lamps, the MK 6 LED Poi, the MK 4 Glow Staff, the glow swords, LED fans and both the basic and advanced glow hoops.

In total there were 2901 LED's made my E-lumination Labs on the stage, using a combined 130amps at 5V equalling 650W.

After many years of use the time finally came for the Barefoot letters to have a face lift from the red letters with incandescent bulbs to white letters with programmable LED's illuminating them. A task that Louisa brought to us after having seen many of the other LED creations we have taken to Barefoot over the years.
This challenge was happily taken on by Hopo and I think it is safe to say he did a fantastic job, throughout the festival we heard nothing but compliments on them.
Not only do they look great they require significantly less power than the original bulbs, the confetti pattern uses only 1.8% of the power, and the rainbow patterns use just 5%.

This was just one of the those fun little ideas that happened in 24 hours.
With some quick 3-D modelling and printing, followed by some soldering and programming, we now have a little e-Lumination Labs table sign to use in the office or out and about , as it is simply powered from a rechargeable battery pack.
The LED's are running through a little demo of some of our favourite patterns.

This was just one of the those fun little ideas that happened in 24 hours.

LED poi is where e-Lumination Labs started many years ago, these poi are Mk.6
They are built using a combination of 3-D printed parts and poly-carbonate tubing.
These pictures show the 3-D printed outer casing, which is fairly resilient but not strong enough for extensive use, this is to be replaced with a poly-carbonate casing for much higher resistance.
The poi have many different patterns, colour options and brightness settings. They also have a sleep mode to help save battery life when left switched on but not in use.

Following the creation of a rough prototype made out of spare parts, the idea for these swords started to expand.
Again using the 3-D printed three sided "tri-luminary" chassis for multi-sided viewing. The glow swords also contain a shock sensor in the tip which triggers a white flash to coincide with the sword collision.
As the swords are made with a poly-carbonate outer casing they can be used for contact against one another.
After some experimentation the final design for the handle was completed and printed, and after further testing a joiner piece was created enabling the two swords to be joined together creating a rudimentary staff.

After the success of the Glow Staff Mk.3, plans and ideas started on the Mk.4 on just how it could be improved, well here it is.
The Mk.4 has a custom designed and 3-D printed three sided chassis dubbed "tri-luminary" with 144 LED's per side, resulting in a total of 432 LED's, allowing for much more vivid and detailed visuals.
Similar to the Mk.3 it is remote controlled with a wide range of colours, and patterns available to use and to create all kinds of wonderful persistence of vision effects.

The creation of LED clocks is something that has happened many times over the years.
Here are two of the newer additions to the clock collection at our house.
The first is the S-cubed VAD clock, this is made using an old Visual Alarm Device made by Honeywell. The initial design for this clock came about as the gentleman who helped design the product was retiring and it was decided this would be a nice gift for him, and due to its success additional versions were made.
This clock has different modes to display the time and an hourly visual chime option which will change every hour.
The second is a custom designed 7 segment clock that has recently been given a face lift using newly designed components that could be 3-D printed, allowing for sharper, clearer segments. This clock also has different modes, and a visual chime every minute and every hour.

Over the past year two different lamps have been built, the Blinken Lamp and the Los Lampen.
The Blinken Lamp is a floor standing up-lighter with LED's all around the pole as well is inside the up-lighter shade, using approximately 400 LED's. The lamp has a variety of different patterns on it allowing for different effects, one particular favourite is the fire effect which was algorithmically generated.
The Los Lampen is a small bedside lamp with a glass defused outer and a small LED core on the inside. This lamp is also capable of many different patterns, colour schemes and brightness levels all of which can be changed via the remote control, enabling it to be used as a soothing lamp or a brighter colour splash within a room.

This was an interesting project to take on, working alongside two friends, a model painter, and a doctor.
This project came from the doctor, who wanted to make a model example of an MRI Scanner to be used in the Paediatric Oncology department of Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI), as understandably going into an MRI scanner for the first time can be a scary ordeal for anyone.
This model was carefully designed using the approximate scale of Playmobil figures, so that they could be used to fit inside the model once completed. It was also designed with the scaling of a real MRI scanner in mind, so that it was as well proportioned as possible.
After a few print tests and some careful work with an MP3 sound board to add to realistic sounds to the model.
After painting and mounting the finished model is now in use at the Paediatric Oncology department at LRI.

When we were repeatedly unable to find an up-lighter lampshade that we liked we started to think about making our own.
With the new addition of the 3-D printer to the Lab we started to look into the possibilities of designing and printing our own.
This is the result. It is a customise-able modular design that allows you to swap out the panels, changing the colour scheme of the shade as you please.
It has been a successful experiment leading to some custom commissions already.
