Wishing you a merry festive season… however one chooses to mark it… as we close the year, and turn over the last page in our 2024 calendars.
It’s been a bit of a whirlwind few years, with one thing and another, but I’m slowly being able to find more time (and the mental energy) to create more time for art and drawing.
Having spent the last year exploring and reflecting upon the direction I’d like to take my art, and what feels most authentic to me… having in the past, leant towards creating (and churning out) work that I believed would be good to take to market and not necessarily true to my heart and my passions; knowing the importance of not just creating stuff I like but making it commercially viable and finding that balance, I think I’m now on the right track.
Also trying to resist the urge to speed up my process and work just to get things out there. Slowing down and creating more quality work and realising that it doesn’t matter if a project takes me weeks …or months… to complete. To get back to enjoying the creation and evolution of a piece.
I have a (sketchy) plan for next year and some ideas I’m excited about. But I’m removing the pressure to get it all out there as soon as I can and focusing more on a slower pace.
So I’ve not a lot to share in my ‘art v Artist’ post today but maybe next year will be a different story.
For the time being, I’m taking some time to relax and rest with loved ones as I close out the year. See you on the flip side 🤍
