I purchased my summer cycling shoes from Richard a couple of years ago. Lake MX241. A wonderful shoe but not ideal for cold/wet weather, even with overshoes.
I had started avoiding winter riding and spent more and more time at spin classes (inside!).

However, that’s just not the same so I rang The Apollo of Cycling shoes, AKA Richard and he directed me to Lake mx146. He suggested sizing up and a wide width. The price was keen, the delivery was prompt, and the boots were spot on.

I have ridden as low as -4 with merino socks and they have been amazing. Last weekend I had a bad crash on black ice and shredded my tights and jacket, but the boots survived a slide along tarmac unmarked so I have high hopes to their longevity.

£200+ is a lot for any shoe, but these will last for many many winters and have allowed to me to enjoy winter again. Cheers, Richard and Lake!!

I was fed up with buying shoe covers every year that were never really waterproof or particularly warm and wore out quickly. Winter boots always looks too big and heavy until the new MXZ21 offered a real alternative. They are relatively light, comfortable and, so far, warm and waterproof. Richard recommended sizing up from my usual Lake size to accommodate a thicker, warmer sock. Of course, he was right! The boots are easily adjusted to get the perfect fit and, being Lake, the wide fit is perfect for me. I can highly recommend these boots.

Phil popped over on Friday following a phone call, after browsing our website and measuring his feet.

Phil has a squarer foot shape with a flat/ lower arch height. The name of the foot shape is Roman Foot. For Phil, this has always been an issue finding everyday shoes, let alone cycling shoes!
