If you’re a business that operates within a local area listen up 👂🏾
In November Google ran an update which they’re now referring to as “the local search update”. When Google make these changes it’s worth paying attention 👀
As a reminder, here’s how the algorithm for these searches works:
✅ Relevance: how well a local Business Profile matches what someone is searching for.
✅ Distance: how far each potential search result is from the location term used in a search.
✅ Prominence: how well known a business is.
Whilst Google doesn’t release exactly what drives each thing, here’s what they’ve said helps:
🟡 Enter complete data
🟡 Verify your location
🟡 Keep your hours accurate
🟡 Manage & respond to reviews
🟡 Add photos
Over the next few weeks it would be worth reviewing whether you have a strategy to implement these things in 2022.
