Gaming headset with a no power / no charge fault.

Generally the usual suspects are a failed charging port or a dodgy tactile power switch but this was a bit more severe.

The culprit turned out to be the battery. It had swollen so badly that it had pressed against the internal housing and pierced itself, leaving the battery completely drained and unusable.

I transferred/ spot welded the original BMS/protection board over to a new battery and had rhe headset back up and running within 30 minutes.

Customer was happy to get back gaming again and probably even more delighted that his headset didn’t become a wearable firework. 🔥🎧

Felt like Mary Berry today 👨‍🍳🍰

Had something a bit different Land on the bench. An Artisan Kitchenaid mixer instead of the usual repairs

Customer brought it in because the speed lever had a mind of its own… wouldn’t stay off and kept jumping back to whatever spin settings it felt neccessary. Basically, it was ready to bake whether they were or not 😅

Thought it would be a quick, straightforward fix (these are usually just a loose spring/screw upon dismantling)... but nope!

Turns out the internal grease had broken down and separated into oil, which had started creeping its way into the electrics with carbon dust around the componentsl. Not instantly dangerous, but over time, It's not ideal. can cause overheating and the smell of regret.

Fully stripped, cleaned, repaired and reassembled along with a mild identidy crisis. It's no longer possessed!

job done!

An Amazon echo dot had a blown capacitor rendering it useless. Less than an hour later it's back to full functionality :)

Customer is happy they can listen to patsy cline again 🤣
