A lot of businesses say, “We never know what to post.”

But when you look closer, there is usually plenty to work with.

The questions customers ask.
The advice you repeat most often.
The projects you are proud of.
The problems you help people avoid.
The reviews people leave.
The small details that show how you work.

Those things can all become useful marketing content.

You do not need every post to be polished, complicated or sales-focused. Often, the most helpful content simply gives people a clearer understanding of what you do, how you work and whether you are the right fit.

What question do customers ask you most often?

Not everyone who sees your business is ready to enquire straight away.

• Some people need time.
• Some are comparing options.
• Some are waiting for budget.
• Some are interested, but not urgent.
• Some simply need a reminder later.

That is why follow-up matters.

Social media is useful for staying visible, but it is not the only way to keep in touch with warm contacts.

Email marketing, useful resources, reminders and follow-up processes can all help keep your business front of mind without relying only on the algorithm.

The aim is not to bombard people.

It is to stay helpful, relevant and easy to return to when they are ready.

If your marketing feels inconsistent, do not only look at your social media posts.

Look at the wider journey.

• Can people find you on Google?
• Is your website clear?
• Do your social profiles explain what you do?
• Are your reviews easy to find?
• Is there a clear enquiry path?
• Do warm leads get followed up?
• Are your key services explained properly?

Sometimes the issue is not one weak post.

It is that the whole journey feels a bit disconnected.

A visibility audit helps you see where people may be dropping away before they ever get in touch.
If you had to choose one area to review first, would it be website, social media, Google visibility or follow-up?

Warm enquiries are easy to lose when there is no clear follow-up process.

Someone asks a question.
Someone downloads a guide.
Someone fills in a form.
Someone says, “Can you send me some details?”
Someone shows interest but is not ready yet.

If those conversations are not tracked properly, they can go quiet.

Activ Flow helps small businesses manage leads, reminders, pipelines, forms and follow-up activity in a more connected way.

It is not about making marketing more complicated.

It is about making sure the interest you already have is handled properly.

Posting regularly is useful.

But social media management is more than posting.

It also includes planning, caption writing, branded graphics, scheduling, reviews, platform choices, performance review and making sure your content supports the wider business.

That wider link matters.

Because if someone sees your post and wants to know more, where do they go?

• A helpful article?
• A clear service page?
• A contact form?
• A review page?
• A useful download?
• A conversation?
• An email sign-up?

Social media can build awareness and trust, but it usually works best when there is a next step for people who want to understand more.

That next step does not always need to be a hard sell.

Sometimes it is simply helping someone answer a question, compare options or feel more confident about getting in touch.

Check your last few posts.

Was there a useful next step?

World Photography Day is a useful reminder that photos are not just for social media.

The right images can support your whole marketing presence.

They can help your website feel more current, make your Google Business Profile more useful, support blog articles, show your process and give potential customers more confidence before they enquire.

Useful photos might include:

✔️ your team
✔️ your workspace
✔️ details of your work
✔️ before and afters, where appropriate
✔️ finished projects
✔️ your process
✔️ seasonal updates
✔️ customers using your product or service, with permission
your location
✔️ behind-the-scenes moments

If you often feel short of content, start by capturing more of what is already happening in the business.

Worth keeping in mind next time you are taking photos for the business.

August can be a difficult month for consistency.

School holidays, annual leave, staff cover, client work and day-to-day business all compete for attention.

So it is no surprise that marketing often slips.

If you have not posted for weeks, never know what to say, only post when business is quiet or find social media is always sitting on the to-do list, it may not be a motivation problem.

It may be a structure problem.

A simple plan can help make marketing more manageable, especially when business is busy.

We’ve written more about social media management for busy businesses here:

Does August usually disrupt your marketing rhythm?

14/08/2026

Someone might show interest in your business through:

• a website form
• a phone call
• a social media message
• an email
• a networking conversation
• a referral

But what happens next?

For many small businesses, follow-up still relies on memory, notes, inboxes and good intentions.

That works for a while, but it becomes harder as enquiries come from more places.

Activ Flow helps bring leads, follow-ups and marketing activity into one connected place, so potential customers are less likely to get missed.

Because visibility is only useful if there is a clear process behind it.

Awareness days can be useful content prompts.

But they are not a strategy on their own.

Before adding one to your content plan, it helps to ask:

• Is it relevant to your audience?
• Can you connect it naturally to your business?
• Does it support a useful message?
• Will it feel genuine rather than forced?

If the answer is no, it may be better to leave it.

A good content plan should not be filled with random dates just because the calendar says so. The strongest posts usually have a clear reason behind them.

Used well, awareness days can add personality and variety.

Used badly, they can make a business look like it is posting just for the sake of it.

Do you use awareness days in your content plan, or do they usually get skipped?

Happy International Cat Day from Teefs.

Not every post needs to be a sales post.

Sometimes content simply helps people get to know the person behind the business. For small businesses especially, familiarity can be part of trust.

People often want to know who they are speaking to, what kind of business they are dealing with and whether it feels approachable.

So today, Teefs is taking the spotlight.

Should Teefs make more appearances? 🐱
