The customer purchased the laptop brand new from a certain well-known high-street electronics retailer. We won't name and shame - but if you're hungry for Indian cuisine, their name might give you a clue. 👀

Unfortunately, the brand-new laptop was booting straight into Windows Recovery every time.

The customer contacted the retailer, only to be told that a support ticket could be raised, but the laptop couldn't be looked at for at least a month. 😬

So they brought it to us instead.
We diagnosed the issue, carried out the repair and thoroughly tested the laptop - all on the same day. ✅

The customer got their laptop back working perfectly, later that same day. And this isn't just for FPS Tech customers.

This All-In-One PC came into FPS Tech with stability issues. The customer previously took the PC into a local repair shop for a storage upgrade, so naturally, that was one of the first things we checked.

And we quickly found something that shouldn't have been left this way...
The NVMe SSD had been installed into the M.2 slot, but the mounting standoff had not been moved to match the shorter-sized drive!

As a result, the NVMe SSD was simply hanging in the connector with nothing securing the other end of the drive. - That's not how an M.2 SSD should be installed.

Without the correct mounting point, the drive can move or flex in the connector, potentially resulting in unreliable electrical contact and some particularly strange symptoms - including crashes, freezes, drive errors and system instability.

We moved the standoff into the correct position, properly secured the SSD and then thoroughly tested the machine.
The result? No more stability issues. The machine is now running perfectly. ✅

At FPS Tech, we don't just swap the part and send it on its way. We check the installation, test the machine and make sure the problem is actually resolved before it leaves our workshop.
