Happy Sunday ✨

I hope there’s a moment of peace in your day whatever you’re doing. It can be elusive, peace, especially during this busy season but nature always gives us little moments of wonder if we are open to them. It reminds of the Cheryl Strayed quote, the idea to “put yourself on the way of beauty.” I love watching the skies this time of year, particularly on the clear crisp days because the colours are just so magical - most so at dusk and dawn. We still need to decorate the tree having got the tree itself and decs out of the loft yesterday. So I think alongside get a head start on order packing, there’ll be hot chocolate, Christmas movies and decorating 🎄✨

‘Crescent Ridge’ my new reduction linocut inspired by nights in Scotland is now available from my Etsy shop. 4 days to go until orders close for Christmas! Orders placed after 14th Dec will be sent from 4th Jan 2023.

Thank you for a great launch yesterday!! I’m so glad you guys like the pinecones too!

I’ve also launched these new digitally printed A3 posters and A5 mini prints. They are reproductions of my original gouache illustrations (painted in Scotland whilst on my MA) which have been printed beautifully by .work with rich depth of colour on heavyweight Perlino Cotton (part recycled) paper. Another way to adorn your walls with mountains! They also have some words on them that hopefully make you feel inspired and full of wonder for the natural world.

I also want to say a big thank you to my beautiful mama for standing out in the cold and taking these photographs for the launch with me. 💕

Just a reminder that the cut off for orders to be sent out before Christmas is this Wednesday 14th December. I’m sending orders over £60 UK Special Delivery and everything else first class. International orders will be sent tracks and signed for.

Orders received after this will be packed and posted out from 4th January.

Thank you thank you thank you!

Around this time last year, my MA Illustration class were exhibiting our work in the graduate exhibition at

It was a funny old year between online learning, restrictions and lockdowns but what an incredible time to reflect on. I loved living in Scotland. Wandering Edinburgh’s (then) quiet cobbled streets out to the green and gorse yellow hills, gazing into mountain horizons and finding my way on the well worn paths weaving throughout the city. I loved meeting the people on my course, and others I’d only known online through Instagram but instantly felt like old friends. Going drawing in the endless inspiring locations right on our doorsteps, or a train ride away. Finally getting access to the print rooms in June, and therefore getting to know a different Vandercook press and with the castle peeking out of almost every one of the art school windows. Some days it all feels like it was just a dream!

Still very thankful for and for being so kind and helping me out hugely by hanging my prints up for the exhibition over FaceTime whilst I was on holiday in Wales!

Ahhh memories. If you’re in Edinburgh currently, I’m sure the 2022 cohort of would appreciate you stopping by their exhibition and admiring all their hard work!

I had a lovely visit to HQ yesterday to discuss the upcoming illustrations for the autumn scent labels. I even got to see the famous candle shelves(!!!) that are gradually transforming from dymo to illustrated colour (swipe or check out my new ‘Smith&Co’ highlight😍)!

It was so lovely to work with Tori in person. We had tea and brownies and I showed her my sketchbook ideas for the upcoming scents (Pumpkin Pie, Forest and Hive FYI) and the original hand painted final artwork for her labels thus far, since most of our working together up to now has been phone calls and emails it was wonderful to finally meet up irl. Scent, like most art, is such a visceral experience - not quite the same through a screen!

We came up with lots of ideas for the labels and beyond, and generally had a wonderful afternoon of autumnal escapism talking about all the lovely things we look forward to in the cooler transitional months 🍂

This blue sky weather is reminding me of the glittering seas and hazy horizons across the sound of Jura last June - watching it all from the mainland west coast of Scotland as the clouds moved lazily in and around the Paps of Jura. I started making a print of that day last July, hopefully I’ll be able to finish it this summer …

I have finally got one of my ‘Glencoe Lochan’ prints up on the wall in my studio! It’s currently sitting right above Vincent the Vandercook’s press bed 🌲⛰🌲

This print is extremely nostalgic and important to me as a printmaker because it was the first time I’d attempted to make something using multi block + reduction linocut process together. I soon realised my skills and experience did not quite match my aspirations for the print and I’d accidentally taken a plunge straight into the deep end of printmaking… but these kinds of challenges are the times you are able to discover and learn so so much more than usual. Many of the initial stack of prints from this edition became make ready / test prints whilst I carried out experiments every layer and learnt what I liked or didn’t as I went. ‘Successes’ and ‘failures’ alike. Some would see this as a waste of time (I also felt like this in moments of exasperation!) but it is exactly those experiences with relentless problem solving that push you forwards.

On top of that, this is a print depicting a very special place to me and I’m sure to the many other people who visit and/or live there. It was my first attempt at capturing a specific mountainscape in print with naturalistic colour and gave me the confidence to make more and explore different atmospheric ideas with landscape.

So, all that to say it makes me really happy to look at this print and I’m so glad I’ve finally got it on the studio wall to remind me to make work about the places and things I love, to take creative risks and to be brave whilst making them… and maybe for you too to remember to reflect on how far you’ve come. I believe we are always learning, so just keep going. 💛
