🔧💻 Keeping Critical Training Systems Running Without Breaking the Budget 💻🔧

This week, our engineers have been onsite supporting one of our railway training clients.

✅ Prepared and configured 3 dedicated Yealink training telephones for delegates and instructors.

✅ Investigated reports of slow and underperforming training laptops.

After a full assessment, we discovered many of the laptops are now over 5 years old and have seen significant daily use. As expected, performance had gradually declined due to a combination of ageing hardware, thermal issues, storage limitations and outdated firmware.

Our remediation work included:

🔹 Storage upgrades
🔹 Memory (RAM) upgrades
🔹 Thermal paste replacement
🔹 BIOS and firmware updates
🔹 Performance tuning and health checks
🔹 Hardware diagnostics and testing

Rather than recommending an immediate replacement programme, we first looked at how we could deliver the best value for the client. By refurbishing and salvaging several spare laptops from existing stock, we were able to extend the life of the training environment and maintain service continuity while future hardware budgets are being considered.
