This isn’t that.
From a Different Perspective has been designed as a day where you actually get involved.
You’ll hear from people with different experiences of events. You’ll be asked to consider your own perspective. There will be discussion, creative activity and plenty of opportunity to think about how you approach business spaces.
Sometimes the most useful thing you can take away from an event isn’t another idea. It’s seeing something you thought you understood from a completely different angle.

Here’s a question that might make you slightly uncomfortable. Are you actually showing up at events in the way that you think you are?

Not how you look, or what you’re wearing or whether you have your business cards ready. I mean the experience you create for the people around you. The same applies whether you’re organising the event, exhibiting at it or attending as a visitor.

We all arrive with assumptions about how we want to be perceived, but there can be quite a difference between the experience we intend to create and the one somebody else experiences.

That is one of the things we’ll be exploring at From A Different Perspective.

A day to step outside your usual viewpoint, look at events differently and perhaps learn something about yourself along the way.

The event could’ve been better. Sometimes that happens. But what if that’s only one part of the story?

The event wasn’t right for what you needed
You weren’t clear about what you wanted from it
The organiser made assumptions about what exhibitors and attendees actually needed
Everyone involved was working towards a completely different idea of what a successful day looked like

We spend a lot of time talking about how to get more from events. More leads, sales, connections and visibility. Perhaps we don’t spend enough time asking a simpler question:
What actually makes an event worth being at? And who is responsible for this success?

Is it the organiser’s responsibility? The exhibitors? The attendees? Or is it a combination of all three? That is the thinking behind From A Different Perspective.

On Friday 20th November, we’re bringing those three opinions of the event experience together for a day of honest conversation, practical thinking and a few challenges to the way we normally approach events.

There's many people in my world that’s been to events this week and I feel it’s appropriate to reshare these 'slides'

When the high from attending events dies down and your start thinking of the 10,000 things you should be doing but your body says no, you might be experiencing a post event crash.

Lots go through it especially neurodiverse people who have potentially been masking for hours/days and now landing back into reality.

These images don't cover every single way it shows up for everyone but it’s a starting point.

Reclaimed Means Business is finally here!! It is tomorrow!

I’m excited, packed and ready to rock and roll. Today isn’t going to be a running around like a headless chicken kinda day but one that look a lot calmer and focused around myself and travelling up to the venue.

At this point there is nothing else you can really do to massively change how you show up so regardless of what you have done or not done at this point the show will go on regardless.

2 Days to Go!

You’re almost there. The prep, the plans and all your ideas are ready to come to life.

Now it’s time to ease off the gas and shift into your final prep mode - Review, Rest and Ready.

Review
Take a quick look over everything. Are your materials packed, tech charged, travel sorted and outfits ready? This isn’t about last-minute panic, just peace of mind that you’ve got what you need.

Rest
Give yourself space to breathe. Build up your energy and relax a little before the big day. You’ve put in the work, now let your mind and body catch up.

Get Ready
Start picturing yourself walking into that room feeling confident and raring to go. You’re prepared, your materials are sorted, and you know exactly what you’re there to do.

Today’s task: Run through your final checks, take some time to rest, and remind yourself that you’re ready for this.

Disclaimer - even if you don't have everything sorted and you don't feel ready, know that however you show up on Thursday morning is good enough. You are good enough, even if that looks a total hot mess!

3 Days to Go!

With just a few days left, it’s time to pause and check in with yourself. Today isn’t about logistics, it’s about showing up as your true self and recognising what you’ll need both during and after the event.

Get Your Head in the Game

Events can feel full-on. The energy, the people, the pressure to make the most of it all... it’s easy to get caught up in the buzz. But remember, this is a marathon, not a sprint. How you pace yourself before, during and after will shape the whole experience.

Before you head in, take a few minutes to think about:
• How you want to show up – stay true to who you are, not who you think you should be. Authenticity builds stronger connections than any elevator pitch ever could.
• What you need to keep your energy steady – whether that’s water, snacks, breaks, or time to reset between conversations.
• What you’ll need post-event – plan a little breathing space to process, rest and follow up in a way that feels right for you.
A little self-awareness now helps you approach the event with calm confidence and finish it without burning out.

Today’s task: Take a moment to check in with yourself. How do you want to show up, and what do you need to support that — before, during and after the event?

We are 5 days out but I am also going to tie in 4 days out with this post too.

It’s the weekend so I won’t make you do too much work today but I do want you to think about washing the clothes you want to take with you, packing and what else you might want to take with you.

I would also recommend taking a look at your tech with fresh eyes to make sure you have sorted everything you needed to and that it all works! Yes test runs of tech are important!

I would love to know what your outfit is like for the main event – drop a pic in the comments or if you are stuck with what to wear I always recommend something you feel good in and a good pair of comfy shoes.
