🎯 You are a master gardener preparing for The Netherlands’ famous Tulip season. You have only 10 rounds and 10 tiles to create your most impressive landscape. Each round you will draft a tile and place it into your garden. You will have a personal deck of cards, of which, you will have a hand of 3 to choose from. After placing your tile, you will choose a card to score with e.g. it could be 2pts/white flower. It will apply to the flowers on the tile you placed as well as any that it is in an adjacent field to. There will be objective tiles you claim as well when you meet them. The interesting mechanic in this one is that you actually want to leave empty spaces in your landscape, you can place workers, which grant you a coin, barns and windmills - all of which grant you end game points.
💭 It is no secret that I love tile laying games and I was very eagerly anticipating this one. I am pleased to say it has fully lived up to my expectations. It is of course absolutely beautiful, from the foil on the tiles, to the wooden components 😍. But the gameplay is really solid too, you have to balance placing your flowers optimally to form groups, whilst also leaving empty spaces in varying sizes for workers, barns and windmills. You kinda have to retrain your brain a bit because I will often forget and just try to place my tiles perfectly together 😆.
There is nothing I dislike about this game in all honesty and I tried really really hard to think of something! If you struggle to place tiles imperfectly you may struggle with this one but it's possible you could still get by, just creating impressively large fields of flowers can give you big points if you play your cards right.
It's a new favourite from this year for sure!
