Most people panic when impressions drop⦠but what if thatās the wrong thing to focus on? š
Iāve been working on a niche site and spotted something interesting:
Impressions dropped from ~278k⦠yet CTR actually increased š
And despite that ābigā drop, clicks only fell by around 500.
So whatās really going on here?
Are we losing visibilityā¦
Or just cutting out low-quality impressions and showing up where it actually matters?
Because hereās where it gets more interestingā¦
A recent period showed:
- A smaller drop in impressions
- But a much bigger drop in clicks ā ļø
Now that feels like the real issue.
Which got me thinking ā and Iād love other SEOsā take on this:
1) How many impressions is actually āgoodā for a niche site?
Is chasing 100kā300k+ even the right goal?
2) What do you value more:
- High impressions with weak CTR
- Or lower impressions but stronger intent and higher CTR?
3) If impressions fall but clicks stay fairly stable⦠do you even care?
4) How do you interpret rising CTR with falling impressions?
Better targeting⦠or early signs of losing ground?
5) And when clicks do start dropping harder than impressionsā¦
Whatās your first move?
More content to regain reach ā or optimising what already ranks?
Feels like a lot of people still chase volumeā¦
But maybe the real game is winning the clicks that actually matter.
Curious how others see this š
