Free marketing tip. 🔥

Go to your website.

Find these words:

Professional.
Passionate.
Friendly.
Quality.
Bespoke.

Now ask yourself…

Can I prove any of them?

Instead of saying you’re experienced, say you’ve been doing it for 24 years.

Instead of saying you offer great service, show the review that says it.

Instead of saying you’re trusted, tell me 600 customers have already trusted you.

Specific beats impressive.

Every time.

(Although I remain extremely passionate about deleting the word passionate.)

I’ve put a polo shirt on.

Things could get completely out of hand.

Apparently you can now be both exceptional and receive a grade of 00.

Finally.

A performance review system I both understand and adhere to.

This is Zoe.

She runs

A brilliant little Cornish business making beautiful things by hand.

Zoe filmed these clips on her phone.

She sent them to me.

I turned them into this reel.

Quite a few people watched it.

Which got me thinking…

There must be loads of brilliant little Cornish businesses doing interesting things every day.

Making things. Fixing things. Cooking things. Building things. Growing things.

Occasionally remembering to point a phone at it.

So I’m looking for three Cornish businesses.

Send me your photos and video clips.

I’ll turn them into a reel for you.

For free.

No filming crew.
No fancy camera.
No sales pitch lurking behind a hedge. 👀

Just your business, your phone and a bit of help putting it all together.

If you fancy being one of the three, send me a message and tell me what you do.

An interesting thing happens to my productivity on a Friday.

At approximately 14:38…

It leaves.

No goodbye.

No explanation.

Nothing.

My Nan used to have one of these.

A gargling fish.

Which is essentially a fish-shaped jug that makes a ridiculous noise when you pour water out of it.

I loved hers.

I love fishing.

So obviously, years later, I bought one.

There are probably more sensible ways to remember your Nan. This one gurgles.

A useful reminder that not everything needs content.

Some things can just be nice.

(Although obviously I’ve now made content out of it.)

Free marketing tip. ⭐️

Read your last ten Google reviews.

Write down the words your customers use to describe you.

Not the words you use.

Theirs.

THOSE words belong on your website.

Your customers have been writing your marketing for you.

Very kind of them, really.
