Finding what is holding the weight of everything else in your business is the 1st job.  Making them solid and repeatable rather than lucky is the 2nd. 
 
Then once you know what isn’t load-bearing it stops having to justify itself commercially.

Most of the people I work with have a title that’s the job they do: Copywriter, Photographer, Producer. 
 
Easy to understand, and much easier to say than – I work out what people are thinking and then write it down.  Or I help people get so relaxed that they don’t look weird, they like themselves.  Or I sit with someone until they can say what they do without apologising, and then turn it into pixels.
 
So I used to just say Web designer. 
 
Which is so much easier for us, but also easier for the person were talking to, to file us away and forget about.

I gave myself some time on the The Pier Falmouth this week, thinking about what my business would look like if it were ten times bigger. Not scaled by 10x but ambition and depth.

I won’t share, as I’m too private and it’s just the start, but not gonna lie, I’m very excited, and nervous.

Can highly recommend; the pot of tea is essential, but the giraffe pen is optional.

Today’s comes from the wonderful INDIDOG Harbourside Restaurant Falmouth.

A couple of times a week I go analogue. No screens, just a notepad and somewhere to gaze. It’s rarely my best thinking but it’s where I empty my head enough to see the connections I’d missed. The ones I couldn’t spot because I was too close.

This is also one of those ‘well done me’ moments, ‘cos it turns out not many jobs let you call this work.
