OnGen - Onsite Renewable Energy and Battery Storage Assessment Service Founded by a group of experts with in-depth industry knowledge and a passion for helping organisatio

At OnGen, we believe any organisation serious about reducing its energy costs should assess the potential of generating energy at the very place it is consumed. Volatile energy prices, tight supply margins, grid constraints and environmental legislation mean that there has never been a more appropriate time to consider onsite renewable energy generation for you or your clients. Our mission is to r

educe an organisation’s total cost of energy consumption, provide greater security of supply and help reduce their carbon footprint.

Read our latest blog post, where Chris Trigg discusses the price rises and market volatility. How can we secure the UK's energy supply? Onsite generation is the way forward!

Fuel shortages, energy price rises, a worldwide pandemic, all following Brexit. Each of these could be described as “black swan” events; but is the current spike in wholesale gas prices really a one-off event? The well-reported rise in wholesale gas prices and their impact on wholesale electr...

It is well known that installing solar PV can have a positive impact on your site’s energy performance. However, what is also becoming common knowledge, is the value the technology can add to a property’s saleability.

Recent research published by solar sense UK revealed that installing solar PV can increase house prices by a staggering average of £32,459 across the UK!

This value is largely created in the ability to save on energy bills – particularly as these have increased by 37% on average during lockdown – as well as the ability to sell surplus generation back to the grid via the Smart Export Guarantee.

To realize the true value of installing solar PV and begin your organisations journey towards net-zero, contact OnGen.

Our software suite helps organisations reduce energy use, generate energy via onsite renewables and purchase green energy from the grid.

Last month, low power demand, combined with gas outages and increased nuclear imports pushed carbon intensity to a near record low for electricity, the National Grid ESO has stated.

Five years ago coal provided 17% of the UK’s electricity. Amazingly, last month that share was 2%, highlighting the progress made in decarbonising the grid.

Across the whole month, 41% of power was attributed to low-carbon sources and on one day it even met 73.89% of demand!

Although these stats are seemingly good, they're not as good compared to records set in recent years, highlighting that there is definitely still room for improvement in future!

A tidal powered turbine, claimed to be the most powerful in the world, has recently launched to generate electricity via the grid in Orkney, Scotland.

The turbine, named the Orbital O2, has the impressive capability of meeting the annual electricity demand of 2,000 homes for the next 15 years.

Prominent figures including Orbital Chief Executive Andrew Scott and Scottish Energy Secretary Michael Mathieson believe the project shows how much the UK is capable of delivering a wide spectrum of innovative and successful low carbon projects on route to a low carbon economy.

An incredible new report released yesterday by the IPCC has stated that across every region and the whole climate system, there have been detrimental changes that are unprecedented in hundreds, if not thousands of years.

While some changes are irreversible, the IPCC strongly encouraged strong and sustained reductions in carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions to limit climate damage.

Without doing so, limiting warming to 1.5°C or even 2°C will be beyond reach.

The United Nations has hailed the report as ‘a code red for humanity’ and called upon all countries and organisations to reinforce commitments to reaching net zero.

To start reducing your emissions and begin your journey to net zero, get in contact with us. Our software suite helps organisations reduce energy use, generate energy via onsite renewables and purchase green energy from the grid.

We are excited to see the introduction of electric vehicles to Lothian Buses thanks to major funding from SP Energy Networks!

By reducing carbon and improving air quality, the £1.7 million project aims to get Edinburgh closer to its target of becoming net-zero by 2030.

Built in Falkirk, the buses benefit from an installed smart management system, which reduces greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption.

With their distinctive green design, they're not hard to miss!
