What does Release Gate Threshold do?
An explanation of the Zen 10 Release Gate Threshold by David Reaves

The Release Gate Threshold lets you set the volume level where processing stops. This helps prevent very quiet sounds, like background noise or room ambience, from being boosted when the main audio signal drops.

In other words, if the incoming audio falls below your chosen threshold, the processor stops trying to bring it back up to full volume, resulting in a cleaner, more natural sound.
