| The Snaefell tower is on the move
The timber section of our new hybrid communications tower was collected from Berkshire-based McCurdy & Co. yesterday by R E Shuttleworths of Lancaster, who transported it on two low-loaders.
Today, it's being ferried across to the Isle of Man, before heading to Jurby Airfield, where it will await its next journey: being airlifted to the summit of Snaefell.
This specialist timberwork was fabricated by McCurdy & Co., whose impressive portfolio includes historic timber-frame reconstruction projects such as the reconstruction of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.
It's another major milestone in the largest contract in LARS' history – the design, fabrication and installation of a new hybrid communications tower for NATS on Snaefell, 621m above sea level. More here:
