The Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration opens in Clerkenwell this Friday June 5 2026, bringing the UK its first permanent home dedicated to illustration and, impressively, the world’s largest gallery of its kind.
Housed in a former waterworks, the new centre is much more than just a gallery. Visitors can expect three exhibition spaces, a library, learning rooms, public gardens, a café and a shop, all designed to celebrate illustration in every form.

In other words, it’s not just for kids’ book fans though there’s plenty here for anyone who grew up on Quentin Blake’s instantly recognisable doodles.

Chaos, composition, and the perfect shot

Does ADHD make you more creative and a better photographer?

lan Olsson has spent two decades behind the lens photographing local Indie businesses, corporate events, celebrity pantomimes, and everything in-between. As a BIPP qualified photographer and popular smartphone workshop leader, he's built a career on capturing the moment before it disappears.

In this event lan shares what 20 years in the field has looked like. The highs, the hard lessons, and how finally understanding an ADHD brain has helped in life and business.

He'll also pass on practical tips from his smartphone photography workshops: composition, lighting, and how to get genuinely great images from the camera in your pocket.

Join us for a welcoming evening full of knowledge you'll actually use.

About the talk
Tim Brookes has spent seventeen years carving letters in wood mostly letters from writing systems the world is at risk of losing.

He is the founder of the Endangered Alphabets Project, a long-running body of work that documents and preserves minority scripts from around the globe.
In this talk, he'll speak about his practice, how it began, how it has evolved, and what seventeen years of working with wood and language has taught him about craft, patience, and why certain forms of knowledge are worth preserving.

It's a talk for anyone interested in making, lettering, language, or the quieter end of what art can do.
