Microsoft Teams used to impersonate IT helpdesks 🚨

Treat unsolicited Teams messages like any other cold caller, especially if you’re not expecting them. You could be targeted by someone impersonating Excellence IT or your IT department on Teams.

Remember these simple steps:

Check the username and email of the person who messaged you on Teams. Does it match the address of your IT department or provider?

Is it standard operating procedure for your IT partner to contact you on Teams?

If you’re ever uncertain, use an alternative channel like email, a phone call, or speak with us/your IT department in person.

Earlier this week, Andrew Beer and Jordan Jenkins attended the National Cyber Security Show.

The event brought together a wide range of vendors, covering everything from camera security to AI-powered solutions such as voice recognition security software. IASME were also in attendance, highlighting the continued importance of Cyber Essentials.

There was also significant discussion around AI-driven threats targeting browsers and email, and the defensive tools organisations can deploy in response.

An informative event with a clear message: as threats evolve, so must our approach to cyber security.

When you are short on time, you make quick decisions.

It's just how the working day goes.

Most people do not stop to read the terms and conditions. Most people do not ask where their data goes. There simply is not enough time.
