Finished this last night, written by my former MA Typo/Graphics lecturer, Russ Bestley. I actually learned a lot about both the mechanics and politics of print before the desktop publishing revolution (which was fought and won just about the time i was a graphics undergrad). If you’re interested in how the cultural world changed so quickly, issues like class, and the tension between creative innovation and commercial appropriation, this is a good start.
