My client wanted "smart" features on an old television set and to be able to record programs to view later. I set up a previously unused Humax "YouView" PVR (Personal Video Recorder) and connected it to the internet via a powerline home plug kit. This then brings the internet to the Humax through the mains power. I connected the Humax to the TV via an HDMI cable and, in the TV settings, managed to get it to recognise the HDMI (strangely it had no set input for the HDMI socket!). We discovered that after a system update, the Humax had most of the Smart features that were desired - including Netflix, BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All4, My5, UKTV Play (Dave, Yesterday, Drama), NowTV, Youtube, etc. All that was left to do was to log into the various channel accounts. For example you need an account to use and watch channels on BBC iPlayer. After buying a set of short silver cabinet legs the client just needed to attach them to a shelf so that the TV could be raised above the Humax and then positioned in front to hide the cables and power sockets.
