John J Woodward

John J Woodward Hi,
And welcome, here you can see my what I get up to with my sculpting, art and design work, in all it's various forms.

I hope you like what you see, and don't forget that you can always get in touch to either commission work, or to say hi. With over 38 years knowledge and experience in the gift and art business, I feel there isn't anything that I haven't tackled and eventually solved.

And here's the inkwork. Just so you can see the difference between the original pencil sketch.

In my second story, there is a passage which I just had to illustrate. This is the pencil sketch prior to inking, and I thought I would share the process. 🤗

I thought I would update you on what has been happening of late. Well, having attended with Anne the Fantasy Festival, Athens, I came down with a bad case of flu. I am doing okay now, but thanks for asking. Yet the show must go on, as such, I have finally sat down and begun my storybook, in which I shall lay down tales of my 'Wild Works' characters. A project I have been meaning to apply myself to, and now having done so, am enjoying immensely.
This morning, I completed my first illustration for it too (it will make sense once you read the full story). To which I present the opening paragraphs to Otto’s story…oh, I do spoil you awfully, don’t I?

In other news. Things are now in motion for something else I will be presenting in 2027, and it is all rather thrilling. Tut-tut, ask me no more. 🤫

Hello folks! Well, I was just waiting until I had finished my final event of the year (not counting Athens, Greece in just over3 weeks), that I thought I'd better add lots more items to my Etsy shop.
Everything from badges to wands...yes, wands!

Anne & I are doing final preparations here before our journey down to set up for Libertalia, at Hatfield House. We are excited to be a part of this first event, organised by the team behind the amazing Fantasy Forest.

In our stand will be a plethora of wonderful things, including the fabulous large dragon display, providing an opportunity to have your photo taken with. We aim to be open for business from 4 until 6pm on Friday and 10am until 6pm on Saturday and Sunday. As Anne has mentioned, we may be open longer but that just depends on how tired we both are after a long day.

As I write this, I do believe that tickets are still available. So, do come along and say hi and we look forward to seeing you there.

I originally posted about 'Betty' a couple of years ago, but, as I finally managed to buy one I thought I'd post her again. Early 2000's I designed quite a few Pendelfin figures, as well as sculpting several. I enjoyed sculpting Betty, especially her table of treats. 🤤

The one that got away! Whilst looking through my files I came across this beast. Sculpted in 2003, with what was going to be a resin kit, it eventually grew to such a size that it came prohibitive to produce, and finally ended up being melted down to reuse the wax. 🥹
