On the opening day of the Global Age Assurance Standards Summit (Age Check Certification Scheme Ltd) in Manchester, two certified Digital Verification Service (DVS) providers, Yoti and Luciditi, made UK history by successfully demonstrating standards-based interoperability for in‑person proof of age.
This first‑of‑its‑kind demonstration showed how independently certified DVS providers can seamlessly work together to deliver fast, secure and privacy‑preserving age assurance across retail, events and hospitality environments.
The showcase also featured on‑device proof of presence (aka “credential binding”), a breakthrough that prevents digital fraud by ensuring the rightful owner of a digital credential is the individual presenting it in real time. Crucially, this is achieved without sharing any personally identifiable information with venues, retailers or operators.
This milestone proves that the UK now has a practical, privacy‑first, interoperable model for real‑world age assurance, strengthening compliance while protecting individuals and supporting safer access to age‑restricted products and services.
The Global Age Assurance Standards Summit continues in Manchester until Thursday, bringing together international regulators, standards bodies, technology providers and industry leaders to shape the future of trusted digital age assurance. 💡
