Would you dig it or leave it behind?

At Party Privée 8, we invited a detectorist who normally uses a different machine to try the Garrett Vortex for the first time.

Faced with two different signals, he had to decide whether or not he would dig before each target was revealed. One turned out to be a genuine find; the other, a piece of rubbish.

That is the power of MD-MF technology: more information before you dig, helping you make confident decisions and spend less time recovering unwanted targets.

Some of the best finds are not beneath the ground, but in the moments shared along the way.

Metal detecting is a wonderful way to get outdoors and enjoy quality time together as a family. When children follow their parents into the hobby, they do not want a toy. They want a real detector that allows them to be part of the adventure.

Affordable, robust and easy to use, the Garrett ACE range delivers genuine detecting performance for beginners of all ages.

Hand-built in the USA and designed to last, it is an investment in both a new hobby and lasting family memories.

The Vortex VX9 offers far more than impressive depth and sensitivity.

Its real strength lies in combining advanced detecting performance with straightforward settings that are easy to understand and effective in real-world conditions.

Did you know that the VX9 includes a dedicated Thin Coins mode?

This mode is optimised for difficult, low-conductivity targets such as thin hammered coins, helping detectorists locate targets that can be particularly challenging to identify.

If you detect with a VX9, have you already put Thin Coins mode to the test?

Looking for impressive depth without stretching your budget?

Pairing the Garrett Vortex VX5 with the Reaper searchcoil gives you a powerful, affordable set-up that delivers outstanding depth at its price point.

Depending on the target and ground conditions, this set-up can detect suitable targets at depths of more than 80 cm.

Better still, the VX5 is designed to grow with you. It can be digitally upgraded to a VX7 or VX9 whenever you are ready, unlocking advanced features and high-end performance without replacing your detector.

Start with the VX5. Upgrade when you choose.

A quick look back at our weekend in France for Party Privée 8!

We were delighted to spend such a fantastic time with all the detectorists who joined us and to come together over our shared passion.

Throughout the weekend, visitors also had the opportunity to put the Garrett Vortex through its paces on a range of different targets and experience first-hand the power of its MD-MF technology for enhanced target identification.

A huge thank you to the organisers and everyone who joined us for such a warm welcome, your enthusiasm and all the unforgettable moments. We are already looking forward to seeing you at another event soon!

Joko S. took his Vortex VX5 to one of his favourite sites in Indonesia, where a camp had once stood during the Second World War.

During the search, the VX5 alerted him to a target buried around 10 inches (25 cm) deep. When he recovered it, Joko was thrilled to discover an extraordinary find: a US $10 gold coin dating from 1878! 🙌

He writes: “Finding such an incredible historical object with the Garrett Vortex VX5 made the moment even more special. I am truly grateful to Garrett for this detector and for creating tools that help bring forgotten history back to light.”

While in the UK last weekend, the Garrett team received permission to search a woman’s private property and help recover a valuable necklace she had lost in her garden.

After she showed him where to look, Henry grabbed his Vortex and began searching. Just 30 minutes later, he uncovered the beautiful silver necklace and returned it to its delighted owner in excellent condition! 🙌

Depth or target separation : which should you prioritise?

It all depends on where you detect.

A smaller searchcoil offers excellent target separation, making it easier to pick out valuable finds in iron-infested or heavily littered ground.

A larger searchcoil covers more ground with every sweep and can detect larger or deeper targets more effectively. However, it can be less precise in areas with lots of nearby targets.

Choosing the right searchcoil is all about matching your equipment to your hunting conditions. Which one do you use most often?

⚠️ Before taking part in any metal detecting activity, always make sure you are familiar with the legislation that applies in your country and region, as metal detecting is regulated in many areas.
