One of our favourite things about Windows 11 is how some of the simplest tools quietly become the most powerful.

And right now, Snipping Tool is the perfect example ✨

What used to be a tiny utility for grabbing a quick screenshot has grown into a genuinely impressive all-in-one capture and editing tool.

Yet it still feels wonderfully simple.

No manuals, no tech jargon, no stress.

These days, Snipping Tool can do far more than take a snapshot of your screen.

You can crop, highlight, draw, blur sensitive info, add notes, and save or share the result in seconds.

It feels a bit like having a lightweight photo editor built into Windows.

But here’s where it gets surprisingly clever: Snipping Tool now lets you extract text from anything on your screen. Website, PDF, error message, photo… doesn’t matter.

Highlight it, and like magic, the text is yours to copy. It’s ridiculously handy when something won’t let you copy text normally.

It also has a colour picker, which grabs the exact colour code of anything you point at. Designers love it, but honestly, anyone fiddling with branding, slides or social media will appreciate it.

And my new favourite feature?

🎥 Screen recording.

Need to show a colleague how to do something?

Want to document a weird glitch?

Hit record, capture the steps, and share the video.

You can even turn those recordings into GIFs, which is perfect for quick “do it like this” instructions.

What we love most is that the tool hasn’t become complicated. Everything is still a click or two away.

What would make your day easier? Better screenshots, quick videos, or instant text extraction?

January is a funny month in cyber security.

Every year, we see a spike in new passwords being created… and a surprising number of them follow the same familiar patterns.

Think seasons… months… events… things that feel easy to remember.

A huge new analysis of 800 million leaked passwords found that hundreds of thousands of them were built around predictable themes. Including seasonal words and simple variations with numbers or symbols.

On the surface, some of these passwords look clever.

But modern password-cracking tools don’t see them as clever at all.

They see them as predictable.

And predictability is gold for attackers.

When a password is leaked in one breach, even something unrelated like a shopping site or old forum, attackers immediately test it against work accounts.

If the password is based on a common theme, their tools spot it in seconds.

And it’s not because people are careless.

It’s because remembering dozens of unique, complex passwords is impossible for any human being.

So, our brains reach for something simple, seasonal, or emotional. Totally understandable… just not very secure.

The easiest fix?

A password manager.

It creates strong random passwords and remembers them for you. No more patterns. No more guessing. No more using the same root word everywhere.

If you’ve been meaning to review your security this year, this is a great place to start.

🔐 How many passwords do you think you’re using right now?

AI’s for more than writing posts or creating images.

It’s quietly transforming how businesses work. Saving time, improving communication, and even strengthening security.

The smartest companies aren’t asking if they should use AI… they’re asking how.

These are some of the practical, real-world ways AI can make your business faster, smarter, and safer…

Could you guess what most businesses don’t even realise is a risk?

No?

Ok, I’ll tell you.

It’s the everyday smart devices sitting quietly on your network.

Anything connected to the internet counts as an IoT device (Internet of Things).

Printers, door entry systems, thermostats, CCTV cameras, card readers, even vending machines.

And according to research, almost half (48.2%) of connections coming from IoT devices originate from devices labelled high-risk.

Another 4% come from critical-risk devices.

That’s… not great 😬

Why does the risk exist?

Many IoT devices are poorly secured by design.

They aren’t updated regularly.

Some use old communication methods.

And most businesses plug them straight into the same network as their main IT systems 😱

That creates what’s called a flat network. Everything connected, no separation. So, if a hacker breaks into one vulnerable device, they can move sideways into more important systems.

This is known as lateral movement, and it’s exactly how many modern breaches start.

The solution isn’t to remove IoT devices. You probably need most of them.

The best thing is to segment the network, so these devices live in their own safe area, separate from your core business systems.

Add proper access controls, monitor all connected devices, and you massively reduce the attack surface.

IoT can make business smoother and smarter. But only if it’s set up safely.

📡 Take a moment to think. How many smart devices are connected to your network right now?

Tool overload is quietly draining your team’s productivity.

Have you ever opened your laptop, ready to work, but then spent the next ten minutes clicking around different apps trying to remember where something lives?

Your team have 😅

A recent study confirmed what many of us have suspected for years: The average creative professional now uses 14 different digital tools every day.

And honestly? That’s wild.

All those tabs…

All those logins…

All those “hang on, where did we save that version?” moments…

They add up. Big time.

In fact, it’s estimated that better organisation could give each person 1.5 extra days of productive time every month.

Every. Month.

Imagine giving every member of your team an extra day and a half without hiring anyone new. Not bad, right?

Here’s the real problem: We keep adding tools, but we rarely step back and ask whether the whole system still makes sense.

Even AI, which many creatives now use, doesn’t magically fix the chaos. When every tool stores information differently, even smart assistants can’t keep track of the full picture.

The result?

People waste time searching for files, chasing versions, or trying to remember which app does what. And very little actual work gets done. It’s “busy”, but not productive.

And the really bad news is, it’s not just those in creative fields struggling with this.

The solution isn’t “more tools”.

It’s fewer, better-organised tools. And systems that reduce friction, not increase it.

If your team has been complaining about feeling stretched, scattered or overloaded… this might be why.

🧠 How many apps do you switch between in an average morning? Is it time you reviewed the tools your team are using?

Think your business wouldn’t be a target for cyber criminals?

Think again.

Most attacks don’t start with Hollywood-style hackers. They start with simple mistakes.

Weak passwords. Missed updates. No backup plan.

These are five red flags that make businesses like yours an easy target (and how to fix them before it’s too late)…

🛡️ Microsoft recently stopped a major ransomware campaign… and it all started with fake Teams installers.

Now this is a story that shows just how creative (and dangerous) cyber criminals have become. And how quickly Microsoft is moving to fight back.

Back in October, Microsoft quietly disrupted a wave of ransomware attacks that were spreading through fake Microsoft Teams downloads.

A group known as Vanilla Tempest (also tracked as Vice Society or VICE SPIDER) had been tricking people into downloading a file called “MSTeamsSetup.exe” from websites that looked almost identical to the real Teams download page.

The sites had names like:

🕵️♂️ teams-install[.]top
🕵️♂️ teams-download[.]buzz

All designed to look just convincing enough to fool busy workers.

But instead of installing Teams, the fake file secretly loaded a piece of malware called Oyster. A backdoor that gave hackers remote access to victims’ devices.

Once inside, they could steal data, run commands, or install Rhysida ransomware, locking down entire systems for ransom.

Thankfully, Microsoft caught on fast. They revoked over 200 digital certificates that were being used to make these fake installers appear legitimate, effectively cutting off the hackers’ ability to keep spreading their malware.

This is a big win, but it’s also a reminder. The front line of cyber crime is constantly moving.

Attackers aren’t just sending suspicious links anymore, they’re using malvertising (fake ads in search results), SEO poisoning (making malicious sites appear higher on Google), and trust exploitation (abusing real code-signing certificates).

And because the attacks looked like official Microsoft software, many victims didn’t think twice before downloading.

Here’s the takeaway 👇

Even trusted tools like Teams can be used against you when attackers get clever.

The best defence is cyber awareness and vigilance.

✅ Always download apps directly from official sources
✅ Keep your security software and OS up to date
✅ Train your team to question anything that looks “slightly off”

Microsoft did their part by shutting this one down. But the next campaign could already be brewing.

💬 Have you ever spotted (or fallen for) a fake version of a trusted tool online? It’s scary how real they look now, isn’t it?

Good tech makes work feel effortless.

Bad tech makes every task a struggle.

The right systems don’t just run faster. They help your team stay secure, connected, and happy.

The difference between frustration and flow could be just a few smart changes…

Are you old enough to feel nostalgic for the old days of the internet?

Do you ever wish you could go back and see what your favourite website looked like 10 or 20 years ago?

Well, guess what?

An internet time machine exists.

It’s called the Wayback Machine, and it’s part of something called the Internet Archive. Basically, the world’s backup drive for the entire web.

Since 1996, it’s been quietly saving copies of websites before they disappear forever. And recently it hit a mind-blowing milestone:

🌐 1 trillion web pages archived.

That’s trillion with a “T”.

Or roughly 21 million DVDs worth of data. (Remember those?) 💿

You can use it to visit all kinds of internet history too. The very first version of Amazon, the original YouTube homepage, even your old business website if it’s been around a while.

It’s equal parts fascinating and cringe-inducing.

But here’s what’s really interesting: The Internet Archive exists because the web is shockingly fragile.

Websites vanish all the time.

One server crash, one redesign, or one company closure… and p**f, years of work and culture are gone.

Sound familiar?

Businesses do the same thing every day.

We assume our data (files, emails, client records, photos) will always be there… until it isn’t.

The truth is, nothing digital is permanent unless you back it up.

The Internet Archive does it for humanity’s knowledge.

You should do it for your business.

Because if they can keep a trillion web pages safe for 30 years, surely you can keep your client data backed up for the next three 😉

💬 What old website would you love to revisit on the Wayback Machine?
