20/10/2026

Job today.
Customer was in Seamill.
Signal was terrible....
They had 1 Aerial pointing towards West Kilbride Freeview Light Transmitter (Image 1) and and another Aerial pointing towards Northern Ireland transmitter Image 2...
Both Aerials were tapped to the rafters, whoever installed then clearly didn't have crank poles (taped to rafters jeezo... )
Teh Westkilbride transmitter was doing nothing as the signal was terrible... Sold something that clearly didn't work...
Also sold 2 x 1 way masthead amplifiers, certainly one of them a waste of time in fact both were as the signal from Northern Ireland would have been good enough for 1 x TV>
We stripped it all out......
Looked at what customer has.
They have the EE pro boxes , One in the main room and one of the smaller units in the other room.
Now thse only get you about 40-50% of the Chanel's available that would come over the aerial via the Tinternet, but the aerail for the local transmitter was not good enough...
Customer wanted access to Chanel's like 50 , 52 and a few others, these are not available on EETV....
So we installed a good Aerial aligned to Northern Ireland and installed a pole so it could be attached properly, (Image 4) which gives them all the Freeview Chanel's but also gives then the local Stations to Norther Ireland which they wont use.
A new masthead Amplifier Image 5 so we could send the signal to 2 x TV's.
If they want to watch BBC Scotland or STV they use the EE box on Tinternet and use the TV Freeview Tuner for all the other Chanel's not available on the EE box.
The EE boxes were the primary use as they have all the subscription Chanel's for Sports and any othher paid for Chanels...
A FREESAT install could have been the way to go but customers did not want a dish on property as the Aerial was in the loft....
It works for them.....
