After talking about it for the last few weeks, it's finally time to head to Olympia.

I'll be spending the next few days catching up with old contacts, meeting new people, looking at what's new and hopefully drinking far too much coffee.

ONE WEEK TO GO…

PLASA 2026 is almost here.

I've started putting my diary together for the show and have already got a few meetings arranged.

But I've deliberately left some space for conversations that aren't planned six weeks in advance.

GOT A PROJECT COMING UP?

It doesn't have to be a huge one.

A school theatre upgrade.

A venue refurbishment.

A new lighting installation.

An AV upgrade.

A sound system replacement.

A complex integration project.

Or a project that's simply becoming more complicated than expected.

Sometimes having someone independent involved early can make a big difference.

I can help with everything from initial technical advice and scope development through to installation, commissioning and handover.

You might not need a Project Manager today.

But it can be useful to know someone when you do.

THE EQUIPMENT ISN'T USUALLY THE DIFFICULT BIT.

Getting everything to work together can be.

The lighting system might be designed perfectly.

The audio system might be specified correctly.

The equipment might all be available.

But then you have:

Different contractors.

Different programmes.

Design changes.

Procurement delays.

Access issues.

Client changes.

Commissioning problems.

That's where technical project management becomes important.

Someone needs to keep an eye on the whole picture.

That's a big part of what I do through Adkins Project Management.

Good technical projects aren't just about good equipment.

They're about good coordination.

Something I'm sure we'll be talking about at PLASA 2026.

WHAT DOES ADKINS PROJECT MANAGEMENT ACTUALLY DO?

A fair question.

I provide independent technical project management and consultancy for lighting, audio and AV projects.

That can mean getting involved right at the beginning with:

• Technical surveys
• Scoping
• Design coordination
• Procurement
• Programme management
• Contractor coordination

And then staying involved through:

• Installation
• Testing
• Commissioning
• Training
• Handover

Sometimes a project needs a dedicated Project Manager.

Sometimes it just needs an experienced pair of eyes to help get things moving.

That's where I can help.

And that's one of the reasons I'm looking forward to PLASA 2026.

There are plenty of people there doing interesting things.

WHY PLASA?

For me, PLASA isn't just about seeing the latest equipment.

It's about the conversations.

Catching up with people I've worked with over the years.

Meeting people I've only ever spoken to by email.

Finding out what projects are coming up.

Seeing what's changing across the industry.

And, of course, having a look at some interesting new technology along the way.

Sometimes a 20-minute conversation over a coffee can be more useful than 20 emails.

I’ll be heading to PLASA Show at Olympia London this September, and I thought I’d put the invitation out early.

I’ve been around the theatre, lighting and AV industry for a long time, and PLASA has always been a great opportunity to catch up with people, see what’s changing and, most importantly, have some proper conversations.

This year, I’m going with a slightly different objective.

I’d like to meet more people.
