Hi folks!

It's been a long time in the works, but yesterday at the Triple-I Initiative we finally announced our collaboration with the French publisher Shiro on our upcoming second game: Frostrail, a FPS crafting and survival adventure through bitter cold on board an armored train.

There's still a long way to go before this train baby hits Steam (early access planned to start next year), but we're very happy to get to share this first bit of news and a reveal trailer with you now, after many years of slowly developing Frostrail behind the scenes.

Without further ado, check out our reveal trailer below, and wishlist Frostrail on Steam to stay in the loop! Steam link in the first comment.

Hi folks!

Three years, nine months and eight days – that's how long Barotrauma was in Early Access. Today it has reached version 1.0. Thank you, all our followers & friends here! It has been a pleasure having you keep tabs on our journey and our submarine sim.

Work on Barotrauma doesn't end, and we're going to keep supporting the game with further updates. Now, though, it's time to celebrate a little (and enjoy a pretty cool new trailer).

Stay tuned & keep it real!

Hi folks!

It's past time we wrote you some greetings, and we have a lot to say, too!

First off, we're looking for two new teammates first thing next year. Are you the C++ programmer or 3D animator we're looking for? Let us know through the links below! 👇👇

These hires are not being made for Barotrauma – they're for something else, which we are excited to tell you more about, a little later down the road! For now, let's just say this new project has been brewing for a long while already, and now it's reached the point where we need more people to make it a reality. So, please feel free to spread the word about the open positions linked here, and stay tuned for more news about this project ;)

So what about Barotrauma? Development of our favorite submarine sim is going swimmingly, with this year's Holiday Update released this Wednesday, and our 1.0 release and subsequent updates glinting in the horizon. We're very proud of our first game and can't wait to tell you the date of our full release. More about that soon!

And now, we wish everyone happy holidays. Keep it real!

Ahoy, folks!

It’s that time of year again: tomorrow Barotrauma celebrates its 2nd Steam anniversary. Time has practically flown by, and even in the remote office, our team has continued to work hard on more and more updates – we’ve already made two big releases this year, with a third update just around the corner now.

Before the next update, though, we wrote a little bit on our blog about how we got here. Check it out, and enjoy the weekend and the coming summer!

Tomorrow marks the 2nd anniversary of our Steam release, so let’s take a look at the journey so far and the road still ahead.

Hullo folks!

Another year of Barotrauma has kicked off and into full motion for us here in our remote office. With one minor update released already in 2021, we’re now gearing up for a major update, and it will be an impactful one!

Much of our work on Barotrauma during early access has been about redoing: re-imagining and re-adding content which may already have been in the game in some shape or form at an earlier stage, before commercial release. With the next update, we’re about to deliver a bunch of that kind of long-awaited re-additions all in one go.

Another thing we’re adding now is brand new but no less anticipated: abandoned outposts. This ties in with the work we were doing throughout last year – creating a stronger sense of progression in the game world, in this case by allowing sites of habitation to be overrun and then abandoned by their inhabitants. Then it’s up to our intrepid sailors to clean things up and allow civilization to return. Hopefully.

What do you think? We wrote a short story about what abandoned outposts might be like to encounter. Check it out on the Barotrauma blog!

The next major Barotrauma update introduces several long-awaited additions. Can you guess which one this short story will be about?

Season’s greetings, folks! It’s been a momentous year for Barotrauma: five big updates and a number of smaller ones. We’ve redone the game’s entire UI, added a new type of dungeon, overhauled the campaign game mode in full, and added physically explorable outposts. We’ve also added, readded, or reimagined almost more enemies and other creatures than we can even remember at this point – from cute little pets to sprawling murderous plant things that take over entire submarines, Barotrauma now has it all. In the last update of the year, released last week, we redid the entire environment! More about that in this (pretty neat) trailer.

And yet, we’re not done with the game. The road goes on, and we look forward to continuing our little submarine simulator’s development next year. Now, we wish you all a merry Christmas & a beautiful start to 2021. See you next year!

Hi folks! Long time no talk – this has been a challenging spring and summer for everyone, and first off, we hope this post finds you well.

Here at FakeFish, we have braved some new frontiers today: a little over a year since we launched Barotrauma into Early Access on Steam, we have just released our biggest update yet. Our drowning sim has come a long way since last summer, and we’re already looking forward to the next phase in developing it further!

Hi folks! Good news for our studio: we’ve just released one more Barotrauma update, and we’ve been nominated in the Best Debut category in the Nordic Game Awards 2020!

The update is titled Rusted Remnants and it features wrecks of sunken submarines strewn about the ocean floor of Europa. Needless to say, where there are shipwrecks, there are also deep sea monsters! This is our first proper content update, and we can’t wait to fill Barotrauma with more as we move closer to full release, one update at a time. Curious? Check it out on Steam: https://steamcommunity.com/games/602960/announcements/detail/2188129923750909734

And the nomination is just, well, really cool ;) The award ceremony is going to be streamed live from Malmö next month, so tune in then! More info about the stream and the nominees here: https://nordicgame.com/nordic-game-awards-2020-nominees-revealed/

Hi folks! We’ve just published a new update for Barotrauma, Silky Smooth: The Quality of Life Update. It started out as a UI overhaul, but we soon realized this was also the time to do some much-needed optimization before we get down to the content and progression updates that are coming this spring and summer. We think it makes Barotrauma better than ever, and we’re super excited to hear how our players like it!

You can read more about Silky Smooth in this blog post from last Friday:

The next Barotrauma update is right around the corner now, so it’s time we write about what’s going to be in it.
