Announcing new book: Learn Rust Programming Today (out later this year)

For software developers who want to learn Rust. Different from most programming books: develop one tool from start to finish, and learn the essentials of Rust on the way. Everything is presented in the context of the application, not as isolated examples.

There is more information on the book home page (link in comment below). You can have a look at some sample chapters and the table of contents (as of now).

[The Today program is a command-line app to show historical events from multiple sources. It also computes your age in days! More details are on the book page. The program will be available on GitHub to support the book.]

Announcing new book project: Learn Java Programming Today. If you already know how to program in another language, I will take you on a journey from the start to a compete application, learning what you need about Java on the way. This book will be different: no isolated examples, just gradually working towards the goal. Suomenkielinen Python-ohjelmoinnin opaskirja "Selkeästi Python" on lähes valmis ja julkaistaan 1.8.2024. Kirjan kirjoittaja Jere Käpyaho on kokenut ohjelmistokehittäjä ja ohjelmoinnin opettaja. Hän kertoo seuraavaa:

"Halusin kirjoittaa helposti sulavan oppaan Python-ohjelmointiin selkeällä suomen kielellä. Pythonin osaaminen avaa uusia ovia sekä ohjelmoinnin pariin uutena tuleville että ohjelmointia jo ennestään jollain toisella ohjelmointikielellä osaaville. Toivon, että kirjasta tulee olemaan hyötyä kaikille Pythonia opiskeleville. Sen luettuasi ainakin osaat ulkoa Monty Python -komediaryhmän jäsenten nimet ja tiedät kuka on Guido van Rossum."

MIDI File Generator is now available for iOS and macOS! Get it on the App Store or Mac App Store. If you need to generate notes for sampling MIDI-capable instruments, this will save you lots of clicks and taps. Just select the start and end notes, interval in semitones, and velocities, then set the timing. The generated MIDI file can be imported into any Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) that supports Standard MIDI files, or can be used to drive an automated setup.
