Don’t miss out on the latest Fermentum project.

This was a long journey, but an incredibly rewarding collaboration with the client. I really appreciated the creative freedom, the strong brief, and the teamwork that allowed us to bring this drink to life.

It’s an undiscovered Estonian treasure you should try for yourself.

For the past 10 years working in design and branding, I’ve noticed that people often forget a simple truth: a logo alone is not enough.

We tend to rush toward what we think we need—a quick logo—when in reality, brand design is so much more.

It all comes down to familiarity and consistency.

A strong visual identity works because the brain loves patterns. The more often people see consistent colours, typography, shapes, and design elements, the faster they learn to associate them with you. Over time, your visuals become shortcuts in people’s minds—so even one colour, one gradient, or one stroke can trigger the thought: “Oh, that’s them.”

This is exactly why Apple’s branding is so powerful.
They don’t rely on a complicated logo. Instead, they use a clean, minimal, consistent visual language across everything—products, packaging, ads, stores, website. Because it never changes without purpose, people recognize Apple instantly, even without seeing the logo. The design itself communicates the brand.

That’s the power of a strong, consistent visual identity.

People may forget a logo, but they remember the feeling, the style, and the experience of a brand.

When your brand communicates clearly and consistently, people can recognize you even without seeing your logo. And while a logo is still important, it must be thoughtful and well-balanced—your signature piece within a larger, cohesive visual identity.

Brainstorming, sketching, and creating mood boards are essential parts of the early visual process. Without them, I simply can’t begin any project. And yes—I’ll be sharing more about just how messy the design process can look behind the scenes.

What matters most is taking that first step: starting, researching, and searching for inspiration. All of this can take months, depending on the project. Of course, when working with clients, I streamline the process to find the best solutions more efficiently, but the foundation is always the same.

Here’s an older project, but I still love how it turned out. This is exactly what I envisioned, sketched, and eventually developed into the final result. The process often involves extensive research—exploring color, structure, logo symbolism, and tiny details. Each element is important and needs space and time to emerge naturally.

Are brand books still relevant?

Absolutely. But why are they important?

A brand book is where your entire visual identity lives, and maintaining that identity is essential. When the guidelines are ignored or applied inconsistently, the brand starts to feel disconnected and unprofessional—something customers notice instantly.

Visual identity is a core part of your brand. It unifies your message, communicates who you are to clients and other businesses, and helps people recognise you right away. Even successful companies can struggle if their visual identity is weak or inconsistent, because it fails to build trust or credibility.

A strong brand book matters because:

-Consistency builds recognition. When your visuals stay unified across all touchpoints—social media, packaging, websites, and marketing—your audience learns to recognize you instantly.

-It builds trust and professionalism. A cohesive identity signals that you care about details. Inconsistent visuals can make your business look disorganized or unreliable.

-It guides creative decision-making. A brand book gives designers, marketers, and collaborators a clear reference, saving time and keeping everyone aligned.

-It strengthens your brand story. Your colors, typography, imagery, and tone all help express your values and personality—they’re part of how you communicate your story.

--It improves the customer experience. When your brand looks intentional and polished, customers feel more confident engaging with it.

It protects your brand as you grow. As your team expands or you work with outside creators, the brand book ensures that your identity stays intact no matter who is involved.

In short, a brand book doesn’t just make things “look nice.” It creates clarity, unity, and trust—three things every strong brand needs.

Why does a good T-shirt design matter?
It’s because you are presenting your business to others!

These past few months have been a great challenge as I worked to create a design for trauma survivors. How does one even begin to comprehend such a topic and translate it visually into the world of design? Was it easy? Not at all—but in the end, I had a chance to capture the essence of the trauma I’ve experienced, and it felt like it resonated with what I’ve been through.

For this project, I used animal illustrations rather than abstract imagery to really dig into the topic of trauma.

Another important factor is the type of shirt you choose. The style, fit, and quality all play a huge role in how your design is received. Following current trends—like the growing popularity of oversized T-shirts—helps your product feel modern and appealing. Even the best design can fall flat if it’s printed on a shirt that feels outdated or uncomfortable.
