An Open Letter to the U.S. Ambassador in Algeria
Madam Ambassador,
I, Hamza Ferhati , a citizen of Algeria, am writing to you under extremely tragic circumstances, with utmost clarity, to express my strong rejection and deep condemnation of the positions and policies pursued by your country, the United States of America, regarding the Palestinian issue.
We must understand that nations do not speak the language of diplomacy shrouded in interests but rather speak the language of reality and justice. Therefore, I address you with utmost clarity.
The history of the Palestinian people is filled with pain and suffering, dating back to 1948 when their lands were occupied, and their children were displaced. This tragic journey has been marred by the massacres committed against them for over 80 years due to the occupation and settlement supported by your government on Palestinian territory, up until the time of writing this letter.
What is happening in occupied Palestine, specifically in Gaza since the beginning of October last month, constitutes a complete atrocity against humanity. The occupation has been committing horrific, all-encompassing crimes against the Palestinian people, broadcast live 24/7 to the world. This, while the Israeli occupation enjoys unqualified support in terms of arms, financial aid, and political backing from your government. Furthermore, it receives full protection against any condemnation in international institutions through the use of the veto to undermine any resolutions denouncing the occupation, its violations, and its crimes. The resolutions that managed to escape the American veto are accumulating in the abyss of neglect, as if they never existed.
Nevertheless, free peoples around the world, including a large portion of the American people, express their rejection and condemnation of this brutal war and the absolute American support behind it.
The Algerian people, who understand the meaning of living under the yoke of occupation, fully comprehend the legitimacy of the right to resist it through all legitimate means.
This is a right that must be recognized for the Palestinian people until they achieve their independent state with full sovereignty over Palestinian land. I emphasize my rejection of labeling legitimate Palestinian resistance as "terrorism." If anything deserves to be described as terrorism, it is the brutal aggression by the occupying army.
I do not intend in these messages to discuss the various political solutions proposed here and there, but I want to address you, Madam Ambassador, as an Algerian citizen, and through you, the United States government and the American people.
My message to the United States government:
I address you on the Palestinian issue because I fully realize that the solution is within your hands, and the occupation persists in its violations due to the green light you grant. The absolute support you provide to the occupation, along with the complete protection it enjoys due to your influence and network of interests, as well as the use of the veto to prevent the adoption of resolutions condemning the occupation in the United Nations, make you complicit in these serious violations of human rights and international laws.
All your heritage regarding the values of freedom and justice crumbles completely in the face of your support for an occupation considered a stain on the forehead of humanity. This unlawful and inhumane situation must not continue, and the policy of evading accountability must stop.
I also emphasize my opposition to any intentions or plans to forcibly displace Palestinians from their lands once again.
Therefore, I strongly demand that you shoulder your legal, historical, and ethical responsibilities toward the Palestinian people. You must immediately stop the aggression on Gaza, lift the blockade, open border crossings to treat the injured, shelter the displaced, and deliver urgent aid to the besieged population in Gaza, experiencing the harshest siege in years.
All this support, arming, and empowering of the occupation will not yield security or peace.
My message to the American people:
I would like to address you today with a message carrying deep meanings, appealing to the human conscience within you and urging you to play a decisive role in ending the heinous aggression that Gaza has been enduring for nearly a month. There is no doubt that many Americans, like people around the world, watch with concern the horrific and shocking images coming from Gaza. This tragedy is being experienced by the Palestinian people, as the Israeli occupation continues its brutal attacks targeting innocent civilians, including children and women.
Let's be clear: the casualties in this war are approaching ten thousand, with half of them being children. They are not just numbers; they are lives, hopes, stories, and stolen childhoods. Meanwhile, two million people continue to suffer under a comprehensive siege, lacking water, fuel, electricity, food, and medicine. If this situation persists, it will reveal a humanitarian catastrophe that the world cannot bear.
These documented crimes are being committed in the name of the United States, financed by American taxpayers. It is essential to remember that American foreign policy plays a significant role in these tragic events.
Therefore, I urge all individuals, civil, human rights, and media organizations to exert greater pressure on your government to stop the aggression on Gaza. We firmly believe that you can influence your government's policy and support efforts to halt this deadly conflict, just as you did before to stop the war in Vietnam.
Let us not forget to express our appreciation for all the civil movements within the United States that oppose the war on Gaza. We all feel pain and sadness for what is happening in Gaza, and we know that there is much that can be done to effect change. Through your messages and actions, you can alter the course of events and work toward a fairer and more peaceful world.
I conclude my messages with a quote from the inspirational activist Martin Luther King Jr.: "A man dies when he refuses to stand up for that which is right. A man dies when he refuses to stand up for justice. A man dies when he refuses to take a stand for that which is true."

رسالة مفتوحة إلى السفير الأمريكي في الجزائر
السيدة السفيرة،
أنا، حمزة فرحاتي، مواطن جزائري، أكتب إليكم في ظروف مأساوية جدا، وبكل وضوح، لأعبر عن رفضي الشديد واستنكاري البالغ للمواقف والسياسات التي يتّبعها بلدكم الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية فيما يتعلق بالقضية الفلسطينية.
علينا أن نفهم أن الشعوب لا تتحدث لغة الدبلوماسية المغلفة بالمصالح، بل تتحدث لغة الواقع والعدالة، لذلك سأخاطبكم بكل وضوح.
تاريخ الشعب الفلسطيني مليء بالألم والمعاناة، منذ 1948، بدءا باحتلال أراضيه وتشريد أبنائه منها، ومسار مأساوي جراء المجازر التي ارتكبت في حقهم على مدار أكثر من 80 عاما، بسبب الاحتلال والاستيطان الذي تدعمه حكومتكم منذ إنشائه على الأراضي الفلسطينية، وحتى الوقت الذي كُتبت فيه هذه الرسالة.
وإن ما يحدث في فلسطين المحتلة، وفي غزة تحديدا منذ بداية شهر أكتوبر المنصرم، لهو جريمة متكاملة الأركان في حق الإنسانية، يرتكبها الاحتلال في حق الشعب الفلسطيني، ويشاهدها العالم على الشاشات في بث مباشر متواصل على مدار الساعة، في حين، يحظى هذا الاحتلال بدعم مطلق من حكومتكم بالسلاح والأموال والمواقف السياسية، وبالحماية الكاملة من أية إدانة في المؤسسات والمحافل الدولية عبر استعمال الفيتو لتقويض أي قرار قد يدين الاحتلال وانتهاكاته وجرائمه.
بل إن القرارات التي افلتت من مقصلة الفيتو الأمريكي تتراكم في غياهب التجاهل، كأنها لم تكن!
ولكن الشعوب الحرة في كل مكان من العالم، ومن بينها قطاع كبير من الشعب الأمريكي، تعبر عن رفضها وإدانتها لهذه الحرب الهمجية، وللدعم الأمريكي المطلق لها، ومنها الشعب الجزائري، الذي يفهم جيدا معنى العيش تحت نير الاحتلال، ويعي تماما مشروعية الحق في مقاومته بكل السبل المشروعة.
وهو الحق الذي يجب أن يُعترف به للشعب الفلسطيني، إلى أن يحقق دولته المستقلة كاملة السيادة على أرض فلسطين.
وإني أؤكد على رفضي وصف المقاومة الفلسطينية المشروعة "بالإرهاب"، وإن كان شيء يستحق وصف الإرهاب فهي الأعمال العدوانية الوحشية لجيش الاحتلال.
إنني لا أريد برسالتي هذه أن أناقش الحلول السياسية المطروحة هنا وهناك، وإنما أريد أن أخاطبكم السيدة السفيرة بصفتي مواطنا جزائريا، ومن خلالكم حكومة الولايات المتحدة والشعب الأمريكي.
رسالتي إلى حكومة الولايات المتحدة:
أخاطبكم في قضية فلسطين لأنني أدرك تمام الإدراك أن الحل بأيديكم، وأن الاحتلال يتمادى في انتهاكاته بسبب الضوء الأخضر الذي منحتموه إياه. إن الدعم المطلق الذي تقدمونه للاحتلال، والحماية التامة التي يحظى بها بسبب نفوذكم وشبكة مصالحكم، واستخدام حق النقض (الفيتو) لمنع إصدار قرارات مناهضة للاحتلال في الأمم المتحدة، يجعلكم شركاء في هذه الانتهاكات الخطيرة لحقوق الإنسان والقوانين الدولية.
إن كل تراثكم عن قيم الحرية والعدالة ينهار تماما أمام دعمكم لاحتلال يعتبر وصمة عار في جبين الإنسانية.
إن هذا الوضع غير القانوني، وغير الإنساني يجب أن لا يستمر، وسياسة الإفلات من الحاسبة يجب أن تتوقف.
لذلك، أطالبكم بشدة أن تتحملوا مسؤولياتكم القانونية والتاريخية والأخلاقية تجاه الشعب الفلسطيني، والوقف الفوري للعدوان على غزة، ورفع الحصار وفتح المعابر لمعالجة المصابين، وإيواء المشرَّدين، وإيصال المساعدات العاجلة لسكان قطاع غزة المحاصرين بأبشع حصار منذ سنوات.
إن كل هذا الدعم والتسليح وإطلاق يد الاحتلال لن يصنع أمنا ولا سلامًا.
ورسالتي إلى الشعب الأمريكي.
أود أن أتوجه إليكم اليوم برسالة تحمل معان عميقة، تخاطب الضمير الإنساني فيكم، وتطالبكم باتخاذ دور حاسم في وقف العدوان الفظيع الذي تشهده غزة منذ قرابة شهر.
لا شك أن كثيرا من الأمريكيين على غرار بقية شعوب العالم، يشاهدون ويتابعون باهتمام الصور الفظيعة والصادمة القادمة من غزة، تلك المأساة التي يعيشها الشعب الفلسطيني حيث يواصل الاحتلال الإسرائيلي الهجمات العنيفة التي تستهدف المدنيين الأبرياء، بما في ذلك الأطفال والنساء. أين تظهر مشاهد الأشلاء المتناثرة في الشوارع والعائلات الكاملة المدفونة تحت أنقاض منازلها.
لنكن واضحين: إن ضحايا هذه الحرب يقتربون من عشرة آلاف، نصفهم من الأطفال! وهم ليسوا مجرد ارقام، بل حيوات وآمال وقصص وطفولة مسروقة، في الوقت الذي يستمر الحصار الشامل لمليوني شخص، بلا ماء ولا وقود ولا كهرباء ولا طعام ولا دواء، إن استمرار هذا الوضع سيكشف عن مأساة إنسانية لن يتحملها العالم.
هذه الجرائم المُوّثقة تُرتكب باسم شعب الولايات المتحدة وبأموال دافعي الضرائب الأمريكيين. لا بد من التذكير بأن السياسة الخارجية للولايات المتحدة تلعب دورًا مهمًا في هذه الأحداث المأساوية.
لذا، أناشدكم جميعًا أفرادا وهيئات حقوقية ومدنية وإعلامية، بأن تمارسوا ضغطًا أكبر على حكومتكم لوقف العدوان على غزة. إننا نعتقد جازمين أنه يمكنكم التأثير على سياستكم ودعم الجهود الرامية إلى وقف هذا الصراع الدموي، كما فعلتم من قبل لإيقاف الحرب على فيتنام.
ولا ننسى أن نعبر عن تقديرنا لكل التحركات المدنية المناهضة للحرب على غزة داخل الولايات المتحدة.
نحن جميعًا نشعر بالألم والحزن لما يحدث في غزة، ونعلم أن هناك الكثير من الأمور التي يمكن القيام بها لإحداث التغيير. برسائلكم وتحركاتكم، يمكنكم تغيير مسار الأحداث والعمل نحو عالم أكثر عدالة وسلامًا.
أختم رسالتي باقتباس للمناضل المُلهم مارتن لوثر كينغ جونيور:
" يموت الإنسان عندما يرفض الدفاع عن ما هو صواب. ويموت الإنسان عندما يرفض الدفاع عن العدالة. ويموت الإنسان عندما يرفض أن يتخذ موقفاً مؤيداً لما هو صحيح ".
