We've been here in this rural paradise for over a year now. The first time we've ever lived in a village as adults (in my case, ever!) It's been an interesting experience, not without its challenges but certainly something totally new and full of fresh stimulation. The area around us is called the 'Halbinsel Hõri' or the Hõri Peninsular in English. It's famous for its lush verdant hills... Seems you throw anything in the ground here and it grows. This is a new print inspired by our surroundings that I've called Höri Berg. It's a giclee print printed on Hahnemühle 308 GSM photo rag paper with archival quality inks.

Some more pairings…

This is Lupo he’s a truly beautiful old dog 🐕with a generous soul (an unbelievable 20 years old!) and was rescued from the streets and lives with Fiammetta who has a little animal rescue home in the middle of the countryside in Piedmont. We stayed there in September. My only complaint was too many bugs but I guess we were in the countryside surrounded by animals...

The painting is by a painter that I’d never heard of before Mario Cavaglieri…I love the pattern on the tablecloth. I picked up a book on Art Deco in Italy and it's seriously inspiring.

Something I ADORE about Torino is the variety of doors. The more modern ones are made of metal and have some beautiful forms. I LOVE how in Italy the smallest details are considered important.

On the theme of doors…this door was the door of a bar. Some of the local graffiti is pretty minimal… I like it.

Sometimes it’s hard to process so much change. We moved to Turin from Berlin 3 months or so ago. Visually my brain is still trying to process all the new images, colours, experiences. We’re all guilty of taking so many photos that just end up filed away on our hard drives. I wanted to find some way of making sense of all these images… enter my newest toy, my Kodak mini printer. When I find a photo that really stands out I print it out. Then I play a little game and place one image next to another just to see what happens. It’s amazing how one image will echo another totally separate one, either in subject, form or colour. Anyway, it’s been a fun game and here are my first 6 images. It helps also for creative block. I’ve been so busy doing other things aside from relocating to another country that my creative work has taken a back seat. I need to refire the engines and get back into it because that’s one of the main reasons why I moved to a totally different environment! Our experience so far has been incredible, so full of new experiences and fresh perspectives and it would be criminal to not funnel all this into some new work that reflects this! So watch this space ..🤗

It's been a while since my last post. I have a lot of new work but don't always find the time to put it up online. I was recently in the Bavarian Alps and thought that this might be a good backdrop to one of my favourite new prints: 'A pale view of hills'. ⛰️🏔️🗻 More to come...

Another in my new series of abstract landscapes. This print is called ‘Pink Lake’. I was lucky enough to find myself near a beautiful sunflower 🌻 field while on holiday in south western France and I thought it would make the perfect backdrop for a photo of the print. Many thanks to Hanna .mauno for her beautiful hands and patience! We managed to sn**ch this photo before the gorgeous pinky red light disappeared for the day. 🌞

Further experimentation with colour and form…. 🌈 This one I named Purple haze. I’m using acrylic paint pens in combination with watercolour brush pens. They compliment each other really well. I printed these at .on on beautiful 308gsm Hahnemuhle photo rag paper.

FRESH off the press! 🤟🏼I had the chance to do a screen printing session at last Saturday and it was an inspiring experience! Looking forward to getting back in there soon! It helps that it’s literally 3 minutes walk from my house…🙌🏼🚶🏽‍♂️
