"I don't have time today, I'm going to do somethings simple" – Me. OH BOY WAS I WRONG.

Whoever knew that tiny flowers could take SO. MUCH. TIME? This is the perfect example of "trust the process". 2 ½ hours later, here is my little way to honor the month of May. I've been gifted so much during this month that I decided to challenge myself to do something creative every day.

Many times when you start a project, you can't really see it coming together until it comes together. This is something that ALL of us need to remember when we're working on something at work. TRUST THE PROCESS. Know that while it might not look amazing at that moment, it will come together in the end. I thought my little "May" art looked terrible in the beginning, but I trusted the process and I will say, IT'S PRETTY DANG CUTE AND I LOVE IT!

Moral of the story: Keep going! Follow along for daily inspiration to keep you finding your creativity 💛

Something I've learned in this challenge (and in life). Repeat. Do it again. Don't be afraid to try it one more time (remember my flowers?) If you want to build a skill in something, if you want to work on your creativity, or if you want to do better. REPEAT. The best thing ever is to see how much you've grown!

My calligraphy skills have suffered over the past 2 years. They've definitely been neglected. This is me getting back in the saddle and making the decision to REPEAT.

Join me for the rest of the month of May! I'm creating something new and uploading it every single day as a part of the creative challenge 😍

WINNER OF THE CUTE PET CONTEST! Last week I asked you on my stories to send pics of your extra-spoiled pets. I would paint a watercolor portrait of their beautiful pet AND I will also send them a print of the final art piece!

Say hello to Blar! He's the fur-baby of . He has the gosh-darn CUTEST SMILE, he's a star athlete when it comes to stopping penalties ⚽️ and he can't start eating if he doesn't put his ball in his kibble.

Drop an emoji in the comments if you'd like me to do this again in the upcoming days! I'm feeling extra creative! ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Meeting my amazing husband has been one of the greatest gifts I've ever received. (Re-posting the caption from yesterday in case you didn't get to read it). I am so grateful to him for being both a witness and an active player in my personal growth–– he switches between these roles like a pro.

We went to the cutest little restaurant for our very first date and I remember I wasn't really hungry. I told him this and he replied, "Don't worry, I'll finish your food if you don't want it anymore". I thought he was kidding. The food came and a few minutes later I took the last bite I could possibly eat and expressed my defeat to my date, embarrassed by all the food I had left. Nonchalantly he said, "No worries! I told you I'd help if you needed it", as he took a big bite out of my half-bitten tomato toast. I laughed.

With that, I knew this man was unique. He exuded a kind and wondrous confidence I had never seen before. I understood that he was put on this earth to help others... And to make me laugh. With that bite, he took my heart.

God has blessed me so much.

This was today's , a challenge where I'm doing something creative every single day for the month of May. Follow along for more!

Hands up if your creativity has felt crushed by this phrase in the office? This, I think, is the 1 creativity killer in the workplace. "That's not how we do this". I've heard it so much these past years and I've fallen victim to its crushing effects. No more.

This is how I feel about this phrase. In your face, negativity! I'm fighting you with colors. Swipe to see some before and after.

Do you feel like you need to fight some negativity with metaphorical colors?

The #1 creativity killer in the workplace. "That's not how we do this". I can't tell you how many times I heard it in the office these past years. This is how I feel about it. In your face, negativity! I'm fighting you with colors.

Do you feel like you need to fight some negativity with metaphorical colors?

Today, I didn't have any time available for anything. I was super scared I would miss the daily art challenge. It took me one second to decide I needed to take out my painting supplies in the middle of class because IT WAS ALL OR NOTHING, GUYS!

It happens all the time, doesn't it? Either you make time for the things that you like or the people that you love. Or you don't. The choice is up to us!

As a totally personal creative challenge to myself, I am creating a new piece of art every single day for the entire month of May. Follow along if you want to see what we'll come up with together!!

For most of the past two years, I've been living in survival mode. Stuck in a job that didn't bring me joy with no prospects for advancement but staying put because "I'm an ex-pat and I've got to pay my dues". "Start from 0'". And partly, that's correct.

We moved to a foreign country without knowing the language or culture. You need to start somewhere. But at the same time, I needed to stop. It took a few days in the hospital to force myself to realize what really was going on and that I was letting scarcity run my life.

Last week, I quit my job. It was the biggest decision I've ever made (aside from marrying my super handsome husband). I will be forever grateful to Elizabeth Gilbert for inspiring me with words from one of my favorite books of all time, Big Magic (a must-read for any human). "I'm talking about living a life that is driven more strongly by curiosity than by fear."

Believe it or not, this painting came from 's prompt from a reply on my stories: "A little bird!" It immediately painted a picture of pain and bruises in my imagination. CONFUSED? Yep. Me too. But you see, this is "El Coronel" ("The Colonel"). He's harassed my grandparent's kitchen for more than 10 years. 🦜

Each family member (except for a select few) have fallen victims of his antics, whether it's by a merciless wing slap or a vicious peck to an unsuspecting party. I often fantasize about making parrot soup out of him and ending my family's martyrdom. I think he fantasizes the same about the rest of us.

After the ugliest flowers in the world (you can see them in my previous reels, they're the only other flowers... and the FIRST flowers I've ever painted –– not drawn, mind you). Well, it's astounding how better you can get at something with EACH try.

This isn't the last you've seen of me, pesky watercolor flowers! I'll be back and I'll be even better!

MORAL OF THE STORY: ALWAYS try again! 🙌🏻

This is week 3 of me creating something new every day during the month of May!

This inspiration came when I was sitting in class and I started doodling to listen better to what the professor was saying (I don't know why I can't concentrate when people are ONLY speaking. No visual aids? You lost me 😂).

I just kept mindlessly (and HAPPILY) doodling and suddenly I saw that I had produced this beautiful pattern! And it's exactly what happens in life:

Most of the time when you start a project, it doesn't look like it makes any sense. But when you KEEP GOING? You start to find patterns. You start finding how things look in the big picture! The moral of this story is to persevere. We're all just figuring it out. 🥰 I'm doing a challenge all of May to do something creative each day. Hit follow for some daily creative inspiration!
