🎶 New in Mezgeb Mezmur — Read Tigrinya Mezmurs in Latin Letters
Many Eritreans in the diaspora speak and understand Tigrinya very well, but some—especially younger generations—find it difficult to read Ge'ez/Tigrinya script.
Mezgeb Mezmur now helps bridge that gap. ❤️
With our new Ge'ez → Latin Transliteration feature, the original Tigrinya mezmur can be read using familiar Latin letters without changing the language or meaning.
For example:
መዝሙር → mezmur
ሰላም → selam
You can choose to read:
Ge'ez — the original lyrics
Latin — the same Tigrinya written in Latin letters
Both — Ge'ez and Latin together
This is not an English translation. It is still the same Tigrinya mezmur—only represented in a form that can be easier to read for people who grew up outside Eritrea.
Our hope is simple: no one should be unable to learn, follow, or sing our Eritrean Catholic mezmurs simply because they cannot yet read Ge'ez script.
Use it to:
learn unfamiliar mezmurs;
follow lyrics while singing;
help children and young people in the diaspora;
gradually become familiar with the original Ge'ez text;
keep our Eritrean Catholic mezmur heritage accessible to the next generation.
🎵 One Mezmur. One language. Two ways to read it.
Visit Mezgeb Mezmur and try Ge'ez • Latin • Both on the mezmur lyrics.
