Helium, the fastest growing crowdsourced network for IoT, worked with Mapbox to create an entirely new Explorer map, used by both the hotspot owners and network users. The Explorer map has a hex grid of Network availability overlaid on top of a world map. Each hex shape has a number of Hotspots contained within that hex. Since all data is stored in the blockchain, you can see the statistics for every single Hotspot on the Network including earnings, activity, and other nearby Hotspots with hundreds of thousands of Helium Hotspots placed in homes and buildings all around the world, Helium needed a clean and easy way to visualize the network. They used Mapbox Studio to provide the blue shading effect to match Helium’s design language, with complex transparencies and overlapping hues to display the reward scale system. They used Mapbox GL JS and Maps SDKs for Mobile to render the Helium Explorer map quickly on both web and mobile.
