Hesse. Innovation. Sensor Technology.

On June 1, 2026, the 2nd Darmstadt Sensor Technology Day will take place at the GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research in Darmstadt.

The event marks the founding of the Hessian Cluster for Sensor Technology, an initiative designed to strengthen Hesse as a leading hub for intelligent sensor solutions, AI, Industry 4.0, and smart technologies.

As sensor technology provides the data foundation for transparent, efficient, and intelligent systems, it plays a key role in the future of industrial energy optimization. At etalytics, this is exactly where our work begins: using data, digital twins, and AI-based optimization to make complex energy systems more efficient and sustainable.

Lars Petruschke looks forward to connecting with companies, research institutions, and innovation partners from the region.

📍 GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research - Planckstraße 1, 64291 Darmstadt, Germany
🗓️ 1 June, 2026
⏰ 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

The event is hosted by HEAG Holding AG – Beteiligungsmanagement der Wissenschaftsstadt Darmstadt and the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research IGD.

We look forward to inspiring conversations and new perspectives on the future of sensor technology in Hesse.

⚡ Fingers crossed for ! ⚡

We’ve made it to the final round of the Award 2026 by ZVEI e. V.! A German blueprint for the AI data centers of the future has been nominated by ZVEI as an “Electrifying Idea”: For Artificial Intelligence (AI) to operate effectively at scale, it needs more than algorithms. It needs data centers capable of keeping pace with the extreme power density of high-performance chips – ideally, sovereign infrastructure made in Europe.

Here’s how we convinced the jury:
🔵 Over 1 MW of cooling capacity for modern, AI-ready data centers
🔵 Direct-to-chip cooling for maximum efficiency and scalability
🔵 AI-based control algorithms & digital twins for optimized energy usage
🔵 Significantly reduced CO₂ footprint

Together with the GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research, FAIR – Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research, and our partner Rittal GmbH & CO KG we are contributing to a climate-friendly digital infrastructure – made in Europe. 🌍

Out of numerous submissions, three companies have been nominated – now the jury will make its final decision at the eSummit on May 20, 2026, in Berlin.

We’re excited to announce our partnership between COPA-DATA and etalytics

With zenon, COPA-DATA provides a proven software platform for industrial automation and energy automation. It connects machines, processes, and operational data, creating the foundation for transparent and efficient industrial operations.

etalytics builds on this foundation with etaONE® and AI-driven energy intelligence. Our AI-powered solution continuously analyzes, forecasts, and optimizes complex energy systems.

For customers, this means turning existing operational data into real value: reducing energy consumption, identifying inefficiencies early, and optimizing system performance proactively.

“Together with etalytics, we enable industrial companies to leverage their operational data for greater energy efficiency, transparency, and more sustainable processes.” - Elias Schnitzer, Technical Account Manager Smart City, COPA-DATA

“By combining zenon and etaONE®, we create a strong foundation for automated energy optimization in industrial environments, delivering measurable impact in cost reduction, efficiency, and CO₂ savings.” - Patrick Schneider, etalytics

Together, COPA-DATA and etalytics provide a practical path to automated energy optimization, from data integration and intelligent analysis to real-time operational improvements.

For innovators, system integrators, and industrial companies looking to scale energy efficiency through automation: our partner ecosystem is growing.

Let’s automate the transition together. 🤝

Rain or shine, team etalytics keeps running 🌦️👟⚡

Together with more than 7,500 runners from over 300 companies, team etalytics showed up stronger than ever at Merck Group’s 13th Merck-Firmenlauf.

Despite the cold and rainy weather, we doubled the size of our running team compared to last year and celebrated new personal and company bests along the way 💪

And the even better: every step supported local projects and institutions in Darmstadt, with part of each entry fee contributing to regional social and sports initiatives.

Thanks to everyone who ran, cheered, and made the evening such a team moment 😊

GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research and etalytics demonstrate how AI can unlock additional efficiency gains in one of the world’s most energy-efficient data centers. Sustainability at GSI isn’t optional, it’s integral to enabling frontier science.

At the Green IT Cube in Darmstadt, etalytics and GSI used the etaONE® platform to optimize cooling operations through predictive control and digital twins while maintaining full operational reliability.

The project shows:
✔ iPUE improvement potential from 1.04 to nearly 1.03
✔ Additional efficiency gains in an already highly optimized environment
✔ AI-supported optimization without additional hardware retrofits

What struck the GSI datacenter team most: that the AI-supported optimization approach identified the additional efficiency potential in such an impressive way.

The Green IT Cube is already considered a benchmark for sustainable high-performance computing, combining water-based rack cooling instead of conventional air recirculation with waste heat reuse for campus heating. The facility requires only around 4% additional energy for cooling compared to IT power consumption and is designed for up to 12 MW cooling capacity.

A strong example of how AI-driven energy intelligence can support the next generation of sustainable data center infrastructure.

We are excited to have taken part in the first project meeting of the ENIPRO research project at Telehouse in Frankfurt. The visit gave us valuable insights into the operation of a state-of-the-art data center, from the server rooms and UPS systems to the cooling infrastructure and the future use of waste heat.

A key focus of the meeting was the discussion of four application cases at SCHOTT in Mainz, EJOT in Tambach, NTT in Berlin, and Telehouse. Together, we explored how highly diverse and complex systems can be optimized holistically, and discussed the technical as well as regulatory challenges involved.

For us at etalytics, these exchanges once again highlighted how important data-driven optimization is for making industrial and digital infrastructure more efficient, flexible, and future-ready.

A big thank you to all participants for the open and insightful dialogue (ENTEGA AG, EJOT, SANCTUARY Systems GmbH, SCHOTT, NTT Global Data Centers and eco - Verband der Internetwirtschaft e.V.), and especially to Michael Nicolai and Telehouse for the warm hospitality. We also greatly appreciate the continued support of Projektträger Jülich, in particular Ralf Egen and Aybike Zorlu.

We look forward to the next steps in the project and to continuing this collaboration!
