Beauty in the Chaos. Collage. A4

Loved the photo of the shattered windscreen I found and wanted to work something around that, the fire ball lent itself to the carnage and the idea was born. The I just used the blue and orange pallet from the main motifs to build the piece and bring some balance to the page.

TAJ MAHAL HOUNDS. Collage. 25cm x 30cm

Nothing too deep, just some big dogs at the Taj Mahal. Took some care with the scalpal to get this one right but the result came out real nice.

PINK NIGHT. Collage. A4

The stare of the owlets was the main subject on this and I worked everything else from there, using monotone colours with a splash of pink to create some accent to the palette. It was given me thoughts of an eerie night, halloween and grave yard but c wasn’t an intentional theme, just something that came through playing.

LIZARD QUEEN. Collage. A4.

On the hunt for material, found a royal family photo book, and a reptiles book… This one is abit silly but the act of creating being therapeutic all the same. It’s disgusting how in the UK they never taught us about colonisation and the atrocities of the British empire. It becomes something you have to find out yourself or worse, taught by the very people who had to suffer. It may have happened in the past but the effects and systems are still massively at play today.

UNTITLED [UNFINISHED]. Acrylic. 50cm x 70cm.

I have an ungodly amount of unfinished paintings at home and most of them have multiple paintings underneath where I changed my mind or didn’t like anymore. Looking back through my photos I found this from a couple years ago, after this stage it took a turn for the worse, changed directions, ruined it, gave up, a classic story. Looking back, I’d like to give this one another go, in some form or another. I enjoy how metal reacts in light and for me, these objects symbolise growth, hard work and building something. The struggles of life as we work our way through it, looking to meet our basic needs and desires. It makes an interesting painting to produce, also bringing in some graphic elements with it too, this almost 3D distorted perspective of an old computer world. I couldn’t help but think of the tubular bells album cover when sketching it out and so it has a nod towards that artwork as well, poignant with it being an album long track performed by 1 man that builds, peaks and troughs continuously throughout.

ALL F*CKED ANYWAY. Collage. A4

Sometimes when im thinking about the climate emergency, global warming and natural disasters. How recycling your plastic, not eating meat, getting public transport… can just feel like a pointless drop in the ocean when you look at the effects major oil companies, businesses and governments are doing to the contrary. When world leaders pull out of the Paris climate agreement and denounce science, it can be infuriating..: the selfishness and stupidity of it all. This is a response to that feeling, an abstract collection putting feeling into creativity.

IN THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT. Collage. A4.

One of many collages I’ve put together recently, a medium I’m having a lot of fun with, collecting old magazines and books with interesting imagery and icons, seeing what comes out in the end when sat down with a scalpel and them all spread across the table. This one just kind of happened, the orange and purple heat signature image started it off and the story was set from there.

Very happy with how these prints came out considering the imagery was found under some floorboards of an abandoned Russian military base built in the Cold War. Some wicked shots from here, still a Medium and a X-Large left too for any last minute takers.
