Our student Alena didn’t start out in tech. In fact, her journey began with Philology and a career as a teacher. 💜

But her interest in technology eventually led her to Computer Science, and later to 42 Berlin — where learning looked completely different. No lectures, no ready-made answers. Just researching, building, failing, debugging and trying again.

That mindset stayed with her even after graduating.
When Alena later joined a startup project, she reached out to two software engineers she had known for years from 42. They joined her, the idea evolved, and together they shaped what became UnityWerk.

Today, Alena is its Founder & CEO. 🚀

And that might be our favourite part of this story: the people you sit and code with today might be the people you build a company with tomorrow. 👀

Some days you’re solving problems like a genius. Some days one error ruins your entire personality. 😭 Some days you’re excited to code. Some days you’d rather fight the compiler personally. 💀

At 42, the spirit is continuity. You don’t need to feel motivated every single day — you just need to keep showing up, keep trying, keep learning.

Sad, angry, excited, confused… do it anyway. 💻

Because progress in coding isn’t always pretty, but it adds up.

115 people took on a one-week Python challenge at 42 Berlin. 🐍💻

A week of learning, debugging, making new friends and figuring things out together — the campus was buzzing with energy (and a little chaos 😂).

By the end, 40 participants presented their final projects and finally everyone got to hold their well-earned certificates. 🎓✨

No coding background needed. Just curiosity, teamwork and the willingness to be confused for a while. 💜

And maybe the best takeaway: “I can do more than I expected.”

Being a coder is basically using all your brain cells to solve one tiny problem… and completely forgetting that the rest of the world exists. 😭💻

Especially when there’s no teacher around to give you the answer — just you, your code, your peers, and a problem that should take 20 minutes but somehow takes 3 hours.

Great workout for the brain. 🧠 Not so great for your sense of time… or your tendency to disappear into another dimension while debugging. 😂

🐍 The Python Discovery Piscine kicked off this Monday — and the campus is already buzzing!

We welcomed a diverse community of participants with all kinds of backgrounds, experiences and profiles, coming together to discover Python and challenge themselves. 💻✨

And their verdict so far? It’s just as challenging as it is fun. 😄
Learning, experimenting, getting stuck, figuring it out together — that’s what the Piscine is all about.
