Same sun. Same navigation. Very different visibility. ☀️
So, what makes the difference?
Caretta uses a 7" high-visibility display delivering 2,200+ nits of brightness, combined with hardened screen protection featuring **anti-reflective and anti-smudge coating.
☀️ Direct sunlight
In bright conditions, a display has to compete with the ambient light reflected from its surface. High brightness combined with anti-reflective screen protection helps Caretta maintain readability when the sun is hitting the cockpit directly.
🌡️ Then there's heat
A smartphone mounted on a motorcycle can have a tough job on a hot sunny day. Direct sunlight heats the device while the screen is running at high brightness, GPS and navigation are active, mobile data may be running and, in many setups, the battery is charging at the same time.
All of that generates heat. If the phone gets too hot, its thermal protection may reduce charging, performance or display brightness.
⚡ Caretta handles power differently.
When mounted in its Cradle, Caretta can run directly from the motorcycle's 12V electrical system using Battery-Bypass Mode. That means the internal Li-ion battery can be completely bypassed while riding. It doesn't need to be continuously charged just to keep the navigation running.
Caretta manages battery charging according to temperature. If conditions aren't suitable for charging, battery charging can be suspended while Caretta itself continues to run directly from the motorcycle's power supply. So even when the battery shouldn't be charging due to temperature, your navigation keeps running.
It's a power architecture designed specifically for long hours on a motorcycle – including hot days in direct sunlight.
7" display · 2,200+ nits · anti-reflective protection · 12V direct power · Battery-Bypass Mode · −20°C to +75°C operating range
