RODE NTH-100

🎼The Rode NTH-100 is another headphone that delivers a lot for relatively little cash, with some excellent comfort-oriented features like the memory foam ear pads and Alcantara headband. They feel decidedly more premium than their budget price point, and deliver on the sonic front too.

🎵Build quality & comfort: Honestly, unboxing the NTH-100, it’s quite hard to believe they’re well below the $200 mark in terms of price. The whole thing feels very premium and incredibly well built. The plush Alcantara headband feels really soft on my head, and it’s the same feeling with the ear pads.

🎶An ear-shaped ear cup for most people with average-sized appendages are they comfortable. The memory foam element is designed to wrap around your head, and inside the ear pads is a ‘CoolTech’ gel, which makes them very comfortable for longer listening sessions.

🖤MAGNAT MA 900 - The perfect combination of tube sound and performance

💡Why use tubes anyway? Tube amplifiers, or rather ´tubes´ in the audio sector, have an inherent flaw. This, however, is an extremely pleasant flaw. They produce harmonic overtones. This means that a signal of 1,000 Hz is also reproduced with harmonics of 2,000 Hz, 3,000 Hz and so on. In doing so, the harmonics are naturally much quieter than the actual sound. Our ears perceive these harmonics as being very pleasant. The disadvantage of tubes, however, is that they are neither particularly powerful nor particularly efficient. This means you cannot really coax a lot of output power from them.

👍This is where the tried and tested transistors come into play. They are able to produce an impressive performance with an unadulterated sound, provided that you choose the right models of course. For these reasons, two ECC 81 tubes are used in the preamplifier of the MA 900.

🔊While the selected and burned-in ECC 81 high-end tubes take care of amplifying the fine input signals and generate the inimitable tube sound, the power transistors ensure a solid continuous output of 200 watts of sine power per channel. The pulse power produced is an impressive 320 watts.
