Under the Hood: What Makes a Wire Harness Connection Last
Ever opened a car hood and noticed a battery terminal covered in white corrosion? That small connection point is one of the most common weak spots in a vehicle's electrical system.
Think about the cable running from the battery to the fuse box. Every start-up sends current through that route, while the engine bay adds heat, vibration, and moisture. If a terminal, connector, or housing isn't up to the job, the result is usually an intermittent fault or a no-start condition.
Zhejiang Daou Electronics Co., Ltd., known as CNDO, is a manufacturer based in Zhejiang, China, focused on the R&D of auto wire harness and battery terminals, fuse boxes, connectors, waterproof plugs, and connectors for electric vehicle battery packs. The company provides OEM and main unit supply solutions, and its parts are used in passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and new energy vehicles. CNDO operates a 6,000 m² facility with an annual production capacity of 9,000,000 units, and export business accounts for about half of its sales, with major markets in the USA and EU.
Let's look at a few components that often appear in the same harness. They are different parts, but they work together in one battery-to-harness path.
The DOBP22001 is a battery terminal for 12V automotive systems. It is an SAE top-post type made of brass, with a 19.05 mm positive post diameter. For the negative side, CNDO also makes the DOBN22006-D5 EV high-voltage battery connector, which has a tin-plated finish, an M8 thread, a 17.46 mm negative post diameter, and a maximum current rating of 500 A.
Near the battery, the DOBXS4-1A and DOBXS5-1F battery fuse boxes handle circuit protection. They work at 12V or 24V DC and use a bolt-type mega fuse with auxiliary blade fuses from 5A to 30A. Their housings use flame-retardant plastic with a sealed cover, and the design is waterproof and dustproof.
Further along the harness, the DOH0001-1 housing offers an IP67 protection level and is waterproof, dustproof, oil-resistant, and resistant to acid and alkali. It has an operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C and complies with IATF16949 standards. The D520023 three-way conduit connector is another useful piece for engine bay, chassis, and body wiring. Made of PA66, it reaches IP66/IP67 when sealing gaskets are used, and resists engine oil, mineral oil, grease, weak acids, weak alkalis, and ageing.
CNDO's parts are designed around real working conditions: wide temperature ranges, vibration, and exposure to fluids. That is why its wire harness components are built with materials such as brass, copper alloys, PA66, and PA/PBT, with tin or nickel plating options where needed.
If you are sourcing automotive wire harness components for a vehicle project, starting with the parts that carry power is a practical first step. CNDO supports OEM and custom supply requests from a single terminal to a complete connection set.
Have you ever had a battery terminal, fuse box, or connector fail on a vehicle? What was the first symptom?
